Ancient Bone is a late-game crafting material in Palworld used to make several powerful accessories introduced as part of the game’s 1.0 update. Unlike regular Bone, it cannot be collected by defeating common Pals or purchased from a merchant.
To get Ancient Bone, you must travel to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 and mine the enormous skeletal remains found around the island. Players who have reached the later stages of the game can also obtain more through the Ancient Relic Recycler.
Here is where to find Ancient Bone in Palworld, how to farm it efficiently and every recipe that currently requires it.
The sanctuary is a large, sandy island surrounded by open water. You will therefore need a flying or swimming Pal capable of carrying you across the sea, although a fast flying mount is the most convenient option.
Once you reach the island, look for enormous ribcages and other skeletal formations protruding from the ground. The resource nodes have a visible sparkle and faint glow, distinguishing them from the decorative bones scattered around the sanctuary.
How to mine Ancient Bone

Ancient Bone nodes work similarly to Ore, Coal and other mineral deposits. Equip a pickaxe and attack the large skeletal formations until they break.
A basic pickaxe may technically damage the nodes, but Ancient Bone is an endgame material, so using the best pickaxe available will make the process considerably faster. The Plasma Multicutter is another effective option for players who have already unlocked and crafted one.
Each skeletal resource node produces approximately 30 Ancient Bone, although the precise amount may be affected by your world settings. The material is automatically added to your inventory as the node takes damage and breaks apart.
Ancient Bone weighs eight units per piece, making it considerably heavier than regular Bone. A single node producing around 30 pieces can therefore add roughly 240 weight to your inventory. Empty your inventory before travelling or bring a Pal that increases your carrying capacity.
How to reach Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3
Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 is positioned off the northeastern coast of the main map. The closest useful fast-travel point is in the Deep Sand Dunes, after which you can fly east or northeast towards the sanctuary.
A fast flying mount is strongly recommended because of the distance involved. Jetragon, Frostallion, Faleris and other high-level flying Pals are suitable, but any mount with enough stamina to complete the crossing will work.
The sanctuary itself is classified as a restricted area. PIDF guards and security units patrol the island, and being spotted can result in a Wanted status.
You do not need to fight the guards to obtain Ancient Bone. Land close to a skeletal node, mine it quickly and move to the next location before the patrols reach you. Leaving the island and avoiding the PIDF for long enough will eventually clear your Wanted level.
The best way to farm Ancient Bone
The quickest manual farming method is to fly around the outer and central sections of Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 while looking for sparkling skeletal formations.
A good Ancient Bone farming run works as follows:
- Empty unnecessary items from your inventory.
- Fast travel to the Deep Sand Dunes.
- Fly to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3.
- Circle the island while looking for glowing ribcage formations.
- Land directly beside each resource node.
- Mine the node with a high-tier pickaxe or Plasma Multicutter.
- Leave the sanctuary once your inventory is full.

Because each node can provide approximately 30 Ancient Bone, you do not need to find many before gathering enough for a single accessory. Most Ancient Bone recipes require 30 pieces, while the Air Walker EX requires 60.
The resource nodes eventually respawn, allowing you to repeat the route later. The exact wait will depend on the resource respawn interval selected in your world settings.
How to automate Ancient Bone production
Ancient Bone can also be obtained through the Ancient Relic Recycler, a late-game production facility unlocked at Technology Level 74.

The Ancient Relic Recycler requires the following materials to build:
- 50 Paloxite Ingots
- 50 Mythical Wood
- 30 Ancient Civilization Parts
- 20 Ancient Civilization Cores
It also costs three Technology Points to unlock. The machine requires electrical power and a Pal with the Handiwork suitability to operate it.
Ancient Relics obtained from World Tree activities can be placed inside the Recycler and processed into a selection of valuable endgame materials. Ancient Bone is one of the possible results.
This method is useful once you are regularly exploring the World Tree, but the Recycler is expensive to construct. Travelling to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 will remain the more accessible option when you only need 30 or 60 Ancient Bone for a particular recipe.
Can you buy Ancient Bone from merchants?
Ancient Bone cannot currently be purchased from Wandering Merchants or other regular traders.
This is different from ordinary Bone, which can be purchased from certain merchants and collected from numerous Pals. Ancient Bone must instead be mined at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 or produced through the Ancient Relic Recycler.
It has an in-game value of 1,200 Gold Coins, but selling it is generally a poor use of the resource. The accessories that require Ancient Bone are expensive to craft, and replacing any material you sell means returning to the sanctuary or processing additional relics.
What is Ancient Bone used for?
Ancient Bone is used to craft seven late-game accessories. Each item also requires its corresponding schematic, additional crafting materials and a substantial payment in Gold Coins.
| Item | Ancient Bone required | Gold Coin cost |
|---|---|---|
| Air Walker Mk III | 30 | 300,000 |
| Air Walker EX | 60 | 350,000 |
| Dogen Emblem | 30 | 400,000 |
| Phantom Ring | 30 | 600,000 |
| Silvegis Emblem | 30 | 400,000 |
| Vanguard Charm | 30 | 400,000 |
| Wandering Merchant Charm | 30 | 400,000 |
| Total | 240 | 2,850,000 |
Crafting one of every currently available item requires a total of 240 Ancient Bone.
The relevant schematics can be obtained through late-game activities, including Ancient Ruins and other high-level loot sources. Having the materials alone will not make the item appear at a workbench, so make sure you have collected and learned the correct schematic first.
Is Ancient Bone the same as regular Bone?
Ancient Bone and Bone are two separate materials.
Regular Bone is a common Pal drop used for Cement, medicine and consumable items. Ancient Bone is an uncommon endgame resource primarily used to craft high-tier accessories.
Some recipes require both types. The Dogen Emblem, for example, needs 30 Ancient Bone and 30 regular Bone alongside Refined Ingots, Paldium Fragments and 400,000 Gold Coins.

Ancient Bone is also different from Ancient Civilization Parts and Ancient Civilization Cores. Those resources are primarily obtained from Alpha Pals, raid bosses and other high-level activities, while Ancient Bone is mined directly from the skeletal nodes at Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3.
What is the fastest way to get Ancient Bone?
The fastest way to get Ancient Bone in Palworld is to fly to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 at approximately coordinates 664, 636 and mine the large, glowing ribcage formations with a high-tier pickaxe or Plasma Multicutter.
Each node provides approximately 30 Ancient Bone, meaning a single node should contain enough for most Ancient Bone recipes. Players who have unlocked the Ancient Relic Recycler can also process Ancient Relics for additional supplies, but manually mining the sanctuary remains the simplest method when you need the material immediately.
