Marvel Rivals – The Death of Wolverine case guide

The first case of the Death of Apocalypse event in Marvel Rivals opened on July 10th alongside Season 9, tasking players with solving the murder of Wolverine. Here’s everything you need to know to close the case.

How to solve the Death of Wolverine

Head to the Events tab and select Death of Apocalypse, then choose the Death of Wolverine mystery. On the Investigate tab, click every glowing sparkle on the crime scene image. Each one reveals a short conversation that unlocks a clue word. You need all of them before moving to the Deductions page.

Once you have all the clues, fill in the blanks in this exact order:

  • Bucky, Hydra, Murdered, Family, Wolverine, Berserker Rage, Host, Mechanical Arm, Tentacles, Hive Cells, Blood, Healing Factor
  • For the three Persons of Interest slots, enter: Jubilee, Wolverine, Bucky

Complete both sections correctly and the case resolves. Your reward is the gallery card The Body in the Lazarus Chamber (The Mystery of Thebes #3).

What happened to Wolverine?

The culprit is Bucky, the Winter Soldier. While under lingering Hydra conditioning, Bucky murdered Wolverine’s family, which triggered Wolverine’s Berserker Rage and sparked a fight between the two. Bucky’s mechanical arm delivered the killing blow, with Hive Cells draining both Wolverine’s blood and his healing factor entirely.

Jubilee appears as a person of interest early in the investigation, largely because vampires tend to get profiled in these situations, but she’s ultimately cleared.

What’s next in the event?

The Death of Psylocke case has already opened (and solved by us). The Death of Gambit follows on July 16th. The full event runs until August 20th, so there’s plenty of time to work through each case as they unlock.
