Fiber is one of the first crafting materials you will encounter in Palworld, but it is also surprisingly easy to run short of once you finally begin building your proper base. It is also required for early weapons, Pal equipment, furniture and several important base structures, so keeping a reasonable supply nearby will save you the bane of the survival game genre – plenty of unnecessary scavenging, where you just gather enough for what you need and ten minutes later, you are out looking once more.
Fortunately, there are several ways to get Fiber in Palworld. Chopping down trees is the quickest option when starting a new game, while the Crusher provides a far more efficient method once you have progressed through the opening technology levels.
How to get Fiber quickly in Palworld

There are three main ways to obtain Fiber:
- Chop down trees.
- Process Wood using a Crusher.
- Defeat or capture Pals that drop Fiber.
Chopping trees is the easiest solution during the opening minutes of the game. Once you reach Technology Level 8, however, building a Crusher and converting surplus Wood into Fiber becomes the most reliable method.
Chop down trees to collect Fiber
The simplest way to get Fiber in Palworld is to attack trees. Trees provide Wood as their primary resource, but they also produce smaller quantities of Fiber as you damage and eventually destroy them.
You do not need any specialist equipment to begin collecting Fiber, as trees can be attacked with your bare hands. Crafting an axe will make the process considerably faster, however, particularly if you need enough Fiber for several pieces of equipment or base structures.
Trees can be found throughout the Palpagos Islands, meaning there is no particular biome or farming location you need to visit. Simply find a wooded area and begin chopping. The Fiber will be added directly to your inventory alongside the Wood you collect.
This method is ideal during the tutorial and early game, but manually cutting down trees becomes inefficient once your base begins consuming larger amounts of material.
How to make Fiber using a Crusher
The best way to produce Fiber in larger quantities is to build a Crusher at your base. The Crusher allows you to convert one piece of Wood into two pieces of Fiber, making it considerably more efficient than relying on the Fiber that drops while chopping trees.

The Crusher is unlocked at Technology Level 8 and costs two Technology Points. You will need the following materials to build it:
- 50 Wood
- 20 Stone
- 10 Paldium Fragments
After placing the Crusher, interact with it and select Fiber from the available production options. You can then choose how much Fiber you want to produce, provided you have enough Wood available.
The Crusher cannot be operated by the player directly. It requires a Pal with the Watering work suitability, so you will need to assign a suitable Pal to your base before production can begin.
Pengullet, Fuack and Teafant are all useful early-game choices. Pengullet is particularly convenient because it can be found near several of the starting areas and can also perform Handiwork, Cooling and Transporting tasks around the base.
If the Crusher is not working, check that a Watering Pal is assigned to your base and has not been prioritising another task. Picking the Pal up and throwing it towards the Crusher can temporarily assign it to that particular workstation.
The best way to farm Fiber automatically
Once your base is established, you can create an almost completely automated Fiber production system by combining a Logging Site with a Crusher.
The Logging Site unlocks at Technology Level 7 and allows Pals with the Lumbering work suitability to produce Wood without cutting down the trees surrounding your base. Assign one or more Lumbering Pals to the Logging Site, allow them to build up a stockpile of Wood, and then process that Wood through the Crusher.
For a simple automated setup, you will need:
- A Logging Site
- At least one Pal with Lumbering
- A Crusher
- At least one Pal with Watering
- A storage container placed close to both structures
Transporting Pals can move the completed resources into storage, although you will still need to queue Fiber production manually at the Crusher. The conversion rate of one Wood into two Fiber means even a modest Wood operation can provide more Fiber than most bases will regularly need.
This is the most efficient long-term method because it produces Fiber from a renewable resource while allowing you to spend your time exploring, catching Pals or gathering rarer materials.
Which Pals drop Fiber?

Fiber can also be collected by defeating or capturing certain Pals including the Hoocrates pictured above. The current list of known Fiber-dropping Pals includes:
- Hangyu
- Hangyu Cryst
- Hoocrates
- Tarantriss
- Needoll
- Needoll Noct
- Carnibora
- Bulldosu
- Tropicaw
Hangyu, Hangyu Cryst and Hoocrates can each drop between five and 10 Fiber, while the other Pals generally provide smaller quantities.
Hunting Pals is not normally worth doing solely for Fiber, because trees and the Crusher provide it much more consistently. It can still be a useful bonus when catching or defeating these creatures for Paldeck progress, experience or other materials.
Hoocrates is one of the more convenient options during the early game, as it can be found at night in several low-level areas. However, chopping nearby trees will usually remain the faster solution unless you also need to capture Hoocrates.
Can you buy Fiber from merchants?
Fiber cannot currently be purchased from regular merchants, so you cannot simply spend Gold Coins to replenish your supply. You will need to gather it from trees, produce it through a Crusher or obtain it as a Pal drop.
Because Wood is plentiful and can eventually be produced at a Logging Site, the lack of a merchant option should not cause many problems once your base is running efficiently.
What is Fiber used for in Palworld?
Fiber is used in a wide variety of crafting and construction recipes. Early in the game, one of its most important uses is crafting the Old Bow, which requires 15 Fiber alongside Wood and Stone.
It is also required for several pieces of Pal equipment, decorative items, furniture and base facilities. Larger structures such as the Ranch and Breeding Farm can consume significant amounts of Fiber, which is why it is worth establishing Crusher production before expanding your base too aggressively.
Fiber has a max stack size of 9,999, but each unit has a weight of 0.5. Moving very large amounts can therefore fill your carrying capacity quickly, so placing a storage container near your Crusher is highly recommended.

Is Fiber the same as Carbon Fiber?
Fiber and Carbon Fiber are totally separate crafting materials.
Regular Fiber is an early-game resource obtained from trees, Crushers and certain Pals. Carbon Fiber is a more advanced processed material used for higher-level weapons, armour and equipment.
Searching for Carbon Fiber locations will therefore not help if a recipe specifically asks for ordinary Fiber. Always check the item name carefully before setting out to gather materials.
What is the fastest way to get Fiber in Palworld?
Chopping trees is the fastest way to obtain a small amount of Fiber immediately. For larger quantities, use a Crusher to convert Wood into Fiber at a rate of one Wood for every two Fiber.
The most efficient permanent setup is a Logging Site operated by Lumbering Pals, connected to a Crusher operated by a Watering Pal. This creates a steady supply of Wood that can be converted whenever your Fiber stocks begin running low.
