Motion Capture Stage Technician II (Petaluma- onsite 5 days/week)

We are 2K Mocap – a lean, efficient motion capture studio that produces mocap, audio, and video assets for our developers and clients across two motion capture stages. We work closely with developers and artists to acquire mocap data, audio, and video assets. 2K is a major video game developer and publisher and is known for bringing creative and captivating IP to the market, including some of today’s most well-known and critically acclaimed franchises like: NBA 2K, Borderlands, WWE 2K, Bioshock, Marvel Midnight Suns, LEGO 2K Drive, XCOM and Sid Meier’s Civilization.

This position will be based onsite in Petaluma 5 days/week. This is not a remote opportunity.

  • You have an understanding and ability to adapt to shifting priorities or plans on set.

What You Will Do

You will learn from knowledgeable industry professionals how to operate our equipment and execute our pipelines with respect to body, audio and facial data. You will also contribute to the daily tasks of the performance capture process and daily upkeep of the studio including:

  • Data quality assurance.
  • Calibrating and operating the capture system and ROM Volume.
  • Markering the talent and facilitating flow of morning operations.
  • Maintenance and optimization of the mocap volume, our equipment, and wardrobe.
  • Setting up and breaking down sets.
  • Making and markering props.
  • Shoot preparation for various projects.
  • Assist in facilitating a shoot day from talent suit up, through a range of motion, to supporting their performances on the stage and everything in between.
  • Communicating statuses of talent and assets to the Stage team during a shoot day.
  • Real Time actor and props streaming on set.
  • Facial capture acquisition and maintenance of the HMC equipment.
  • Stage documentation upkeep.

What Will Make You A Great Fit

  • 2+ years motion capture industry experience or related internship. Experience on stage is preferred.
  • Experience with optical motion capture.
  • Experience with either Vicon Blade or OptiTrack Motive.
  • You have installed, aimed, and calibrated motion capture cameras.
  • Education in the field of 3D Animation or Motion Capture.
  • Participation in setting up a mocap system is a plus.
  • Proficient with Autodesk MotionBuilder and Maya- able to stream motion capture data in real time.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine is a plus.
  • Knowledge audio editing, motion capture data cleaning, and programming are a plus.

This position will be based onsite in Petaluma 5 days/week. This is not a remote opportunity.

The pay range for this position in Petaluma, CA at the start of employment is expected to be between $87,000.00 and $100,000.00 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
