Battle of Malta Online crowns early champions as $30 million CoinPoker festival gathers pace

CoinPoker’s $30 million Battle of Malta Online festival has crowned its first champions following an opening week headlined by the $1 million guaranteed CoinMillion tournament.

The online poker series is set to continue until August 3, with several of its largest tournaments still to come. These include the $2.5 million guaranteed Main Event, the CoinMasters BTC High Roller and The Iron Throne.

Players can also continue competing for physical trophies, digital awards and packages for the live Battle of Malta Autumn Edition, which takes place later this year.

Monc wins $121,500 in the CoinMillion

The $215 CoinMillion generated the largest prize pool awarded during the opening week, with “monc” emerging from the field to secure the title and a first-place prize of $121,500.

The winner will also receive a physical Battle of Malta Online trophy and a matching digital version that can be displayed in CoinPoker’s in-game Trophy Cabinet.

The top five finishers collected the following prizes:

A deal was reportedly requested during the closing stages of the tournament but was rejected. JohnnieTsunami, the player who proposed the deal, was eliminated shortly afterwards in third place.

CoinMillion previously appeared as part of the World Poker Masters series, and its latest performance could lead to the tournament becoming a more permanent fixture.

A CoinPoker spokesperson said: “CoinMillion has a high chance of becoming a regular tournament on the CoinPoker schedule.”

The opening week also saw “shipitplz” win the $55 Mini CoinMillion, collecting a $20,000 first-place prize.

Battle of Malta Online crowns its first winners

CoinMillion was the largest tournament completed during the opening stage of the festival, but several other Battle of Malta Online champions have already been decided.

“Agarrolaocho” won the Valletta 8-Max and collected $39,002.46, while “Vorr” secured the Battle of Malta $150 CoinMasters BITCOIN title and a prize of $39,764.14.

“BAAAAMBINOOOO” was another early winner, taking down the $320 Dark Knight PKO for $18,341.63.

CoinPoker is publishing winner interviews and final-hand replays through its social media channels as the festival progresses. Recent champions can also be viewed by selecting Event Winners inside the Battle of Malta section of the CoinPoker client.

Live Battle of Malta packages remain available

Alongside the online prize pools, players can qualify for the live Battle of Malta Autumn Edition through the Champions Trials leaderboard promotion.

Players earn tickets to the multi-stage Champions Trials tournaments by participating in eligible competitions each week. A further 50 live packages are scheduled to be awarded through the promotion before the online series concludes.

In total, CoinPoker is offering 100 Battle of Malta Autumn Edition packages during the festival.

The live Battle of Malta series will run from October 27 until November 4 and feature a $2 million guaranteed prize pool.

Battle of Malta Main Event guarantees $2.5 million

The festival’s flagship tournament is the $565 Battle of Malta Main Event, which carries a $2.5 million guarantee.

Day 1 flights will continue throughout the remainder of the series, with surviving players returning for Day 2 on August 3. The winner will receive a unique physical trophy designed to distinguish the Main Event champion from the winners of other tournaments during the festival.

Most Day 1 flights begin at 17:30 UTC, while $55 satellites provide a lower-cost qualifying route into the tournament.

Main Challenger and Main Crusader offer lower buy-ins

Two lower-priced versions of the Main Event are also running throughout the Battle of Malta Online schedule.

The $55 Main Challenger features a $500,000 guarantee, giving it one of the strongest guarantee-to-buy-in ratios offered during the festival.

The $11 Main Crusader provides another affordable option, with a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000.

Day 1 flights for both tournaments begin daily at 17:30 UTC. Players who qualify more than once will take their best accumulated stack through to Day 2.

CoinMasters BTC High Roller offers $1 million guarantee

High-stakes players can compete in the $1,500 CoinMasters BTC High Roller, which features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool.

The first two Day 1 flights have already been completed, but Day 1C and Day 1D remain on the schedule. Players who qualify will return for Day 2 on August 3.

In addition to the prize money, the winner will receive a gold-plated CoinMasters coin and a special Battle of Malta physical trophy. Both prizes will be delivered to the winner.

The Iron Throne returns with $400,000 prize pool

The $5,200 Iron Throne returns during Battle of Malta Online with a $400,000 guarantee.

The two-day high-roller tournament begins on July 26 at 18:05 UTC. Surviving players will return at the same time on July 27 to complete the event.

As one of the festival’s most prestigious tournaments, The Iron Throne will award its winner both a physical trophy and a matching digital award.

Regs of the Round Table set for July 30

Regs of the Round Table is among the most notable tournaments remaining on the schedule.

The main version has a $530 buy-in and a $200,000 guarantee. CoinPoker expects the tournament to attract several established poker personalities, with its friends and ambassadors including Bencb, Kelvin Kerber, Jeremy Ausmus and Patrick Leonard.

Lower-priced versions will run alongside the flagship tournament. A $55 edition carries a $75,000 guarantee, while an $11 competition will award at least $20,000.

All three tournaments begin at 16:30 UTC on July 30 and will award trophies to their respective winners.

Battle of Malta Online continues until August 3

Physical Battle of Malta trophies and matching digital Trophy Cabinet awards will continue to be distributed across selected events until the series concludes.

Players can also qualify for the Battle of Malta Autumn Edition through Champions Trials and Main Event promotions, while daily satellites offer routes into the festival’s more expensive tournaments.

With the $2.5 million Main Event, $1 million CoinMasters BTC High Roller, $500,000 Main Challenger and $400,000 Iron Throne still to be decided, most of the festival’s largest prizes remain available.
