Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: How to watch the livestream

The Nintendo Direct dedicated to the full reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 will officially air this week, on 2 April 2025. It’s set to be the proper introduction to the Nintendo Switch 2, likely comprising launch game reveals, as well as details of the console’s major features, its global price tag, and its planned release date.

A recent Nintendo Direct teased a bunch of great-looking games for Nintendo Switch that will likely also appear on the Nintendo Switch 2 – Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Rhythm Heaven Groove, and more – and we could get confirmation of cross-platform releases during this upcoming Direct.

Of course, Nintendo also has a reputation for holding onto big reveals, so there could be even more major reveals on the way. We could see a bunch of Switch 2-only sequels, or even brand new titles. For now, we’re dealing with a fairly blank slate, beyond what we assume is a new Mario Kart racer.

That means the Switch 2 Direct will be essential viewing. We certainly have a wishlist for the upcoming showcase, with some likely and not-so-likely guesses as to what’ll be on show.

We hope Professor Layton and the New World of Steam puts in an appearance here, given it missed the last Nintendo Direct. We also hope to get a more in-depth look at that teased Mario Kart game (and this is the most likely feature of the upcoming showcase).

Beyond this, our wilder guesses include the long-anticipated arrival of Hollow Knight: Silksong (or there may be a riot), a new Animal Crossing game, or something for The Sims. Of course, surprises are always good too, and there’ll likely be plenty of those in the upcoming showcase.

Whatever’s set to be on show, the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will be worth watching. Here’s when you’ll be able to tune in, around the world.
