Fantastic Four: First Steps Cast is Hilariously Clueless in Marvel Rivals Collab with Australian Streamer

Fantastic Four: First Steps Cast plays Marvel Rivals with Australian Streamer. The picture includes actors Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and streamer LoserFruit. They are huddled around a computer setup playing Marvel Rivals, with the background decorated to promote Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Fantastic Four: First Steps is nearly upon us, with early reviews already containing a fair amount of positive buzz. Marvel and Disney seem to have quite a lot riding on the success of this film, considering the rocky reception to various MCU projects in recent years. To this end, the Fantastic Four: First Steps cast has been on a lengthy press tour, with their most recent appearance being directed squarely at gamers.

Marvel Rivals has proven massively successful, perhaps more than anyone expected. It’s not exactly easy to find longevity as a hero shooter, especially since Overwatch more or less locked down the entire market years ago. Part of Rivals‘ advantage in this department is simply the broad appeal of Marvel’s roster of heroes. Taking further advantage of this fact, Australian streamer LoserFruit made her platform the latest destination for The Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four: First Steps Cast Tries (and Fails) to Play Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals‘ heavily marketed its first season with the arrival of all four members of Marvel’s First Family. Now, Marvel Rivals is touting a Fantastic Four: First Steps crossover to promote the movie before its upcoming release. In line with this cross-promotional strategy, the cast of First Steps made a guest appearance with Australian streamer LoserFruit, titled “I Play Marvel Rivals with the Fantastic Four Cast”.

With all due respect, “play” may be a bit of a generous description for what the cast does in this video. As has already circulated in clips on Twitter, Pedro Pascal’s cluelessness is a particular highlight of the video. Pascal seems (again, respectfully) downright terrible at operating even the most basic controls of the game. Pedro picked up the slack with his award-winning charm, remarking that his character’s model had “the silhouette I’ve always wanted”. No need to pile too hard onto Pascal, as his costars didn’t fare much better.

Ebon “The Thing” Moss-Bachrach developing a fixation on Mr. Fantastic’s backwards walk animation of all things. As the proverbial little brother of the group, it was very fitting to watch Joseph Quinn be by far the most competent actor to play the video game. True to his role as Johnny Storm, he proved to be the most confident as well, quipping “I’ve mastered this now” after mere minutes of playing. Vanessa Kirby managed to stay firmly on task as well, remarking that Invisible Woman was the “coolest one” to a chorus of affirmative “hell yeah”s.

Most of the video keeps the Fantastic Four: First Steps cast contained firmly in Marvel Rivals‘ training room. However, LoserFruit did eventually take them out for a spin in a proper match. She even did the due diligence of asking her competitors in chat to be nice to her guests. In a surprise to anyone that has solo queued in Marvel Rivals, they mostly listened.

We reached out to LoserFruit for comment on her experience playing with The Fantastic Four, but she unfortunately has yet to respond. If she happens to follow up, you can be sure to check back with us for another update. Regardless, we will continue to keep our nose close to the very best stories coming out of Marvel Rivals, and all of your other favorite games.
