WARDOGS has gained serious momentum, perhaps becoming the biggest shooter to release this year outside of Modern Warfare 4, and GTA 6 if you count that. The mil-sim crowd alongside fans of more grounded shooters are looking forward to it, especially with an upcoming WARDOGS closed alpha on the cards.
With last week’s stream, WARDOGS has gained even more momentum, and the developers want you to get in, try the game out and give crucial feedback ahead of its Early Access launch. Here’s how to sign up for the closed alpha and get a chance at testing the game.
How to get into the WARDOGS Closed Alpha test
To enter the WARDOGS alpha test, you need to do the following:
Firstlook.GG is a site dedicated to getting players into beta tests and other events for various game developers and publishers. BULKHEAD works with Team 17 as its publisher, which has a deal to put all their betas on that platform.
Simply sign up and register through the process there. You can also request access on the game’s Steam store page as an alternative. I’d recommend doing both to make sure it’s all done correctly and to increase your odds.
WARDOGS Closed Alpha invites have already begun rolling out, with many players sharing images of the closed test appearing in their Steam libraries. Invites are rolling out in waves and batches, meaning there is still plenty of time to sign up and get picked.
You may also receive a hardware survey so developers know what specs your PC is running on. It likely helps them test the game across different hardware configurations and gather optimization data ahead of Early Access.
When is the WARDOGS Closed Alpha?
As it stands, the WARDOGS alpha is currently set for August 7th to 9th. Official times for when the alpha runs have not yet been confirmed. Those may follow similar timings to the earlier closed alphas that were under NDA, but those details remain tightly sealed based on online research. If you’re in the know you might have a better estimate than we do.
I imagine we’ll know closer to the time what the actual start times are.
Bear in mind this will likely be a short session across two days. That’s because BULKHEAD has pushed forward its Early Access release date to the end of summer, which could mean August or somewhere around the autumn solstice on September 21st, giving us roughly a six-week window to work with. The closed alpha is likely gathering that all-important wider test feedback to make Early Access as smooth as possible.
Though I still expect the servers to melt, given the amount of hype this is getting even with restricted closed alpha server tests.
