Modern Warfare 4 Beta dates confirmed – Here’s how to get a MW4 beta key

Activision has confirmed the details for when the Modern Warfare 4 beta will be.  It comes alongside the company announcing CoD Next, the big event where it invites creators, press and more to play Call of Duty, where players can win prizes for watching.

Modern Warfare 4 Beta Dates

There’s currently two selected Modern Warfare 4 beta dates.

Weekend One runs as an Early Access beta from August 21st to 25th. It is exclusively for players who pre-order on any platform, bar Nintendo Switch 2, or gain a beta key somehow.

Weekend Two is an Open Beta running August 28th to September 1st. It is open to all players on all platforms including Nintendo Switch 2, with no pre-order required.

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders go live on August 27th, which means that Switch 2 will not get a pre-order bonus beta code for the game.

How to Get Modern Warfare 4 Beta Keys

The simplest way to guarantee Early Access for Weekend One is to pre-order Modern Warfare 4 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 or PC before August 21st. Pre-ordering on any of those platforms unlocks immediate Early Access beta entry alongside some additional rewards. No key required, just download and it will flag your account as having pre-ordered and thus have access.

If you do not want to pre-order, Weekend Two is completely open and free. No beta key, no pre-order and no purchase needed. Simply download the beta client on your platform of choice from August 28th and jump in.

There’s also no game pass trick with the beta, with new CoD’s not coming to Game Pass for its first year.

There are ways to get beta keys though., There were some available recently as part of the CoD championship finals. We’ve also seen a  few keys appear in other trailers and such. CoD Next will also have beta keys appear on stream during the broadcast, so you can have a chance to get codes then too. CoD Next goes live the same day as the MW4 beta, so there will be eyes certainly on it.
