Does Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced bring back multiplayer shenanigans?

If you’re sitting down and playing an Assassin’s Creed game, you’re usually either trying to get fully invested in the story, leaping across rooftops, or going around trying to kill off anyone who gets in your way.

However, if you dabbled in some of the older entries in the franchise, you’ll know that Assassin’s Creed wasn’t always a strictly single-player affair. The multiplayer portion of the experience was actually pretty stellar, offering something completely different from the usual sword-swinging and parkour-heavy campaign.

Instead of traditional deathmatch chaos, Assassin’s Creed multiplayer had an almost hide-and-seek feel to it. You had to blend into crowds, act like an NPC, track your target, and avoid giving yourself away before striking at the perfect moment.

The original Black Flag did include multiplayer, and because of all the above, many are wondering if it returns in Black Flag Resynced.

Does Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced have multiplayer?

Since Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is an upgraded and visually overhauled version of the original, you’d probably expect the multiplayer portion of the game to receive the same treatment, too, right?

Well, unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced does not have multiplayer, with Ubisoft choosing to leave the mode out of the remake entirely.

That means there is no online assassination mode and no return of the tense cat-and-mouse gameplay that made older Assassin’s Creed multiplayer so memorable.

This is definitely disappointing, especially for long-time fans who have been hoping Ubisoft might eventually bring multiplayer back to the series. Black Flag Resynced would have been a pretty perfect opportunity to test the waters again, particularly because the original game already had the foundations in place.

According to Ubisoft, “the team is fully focused on delivering the best possible solo experience,” so the hope is that the absence of multiplayer results in a more polished and complete campaign.

Hopefully, the lack of multiplayer hasn’t put you off a pre-order, because you’ll lose a nice little bonus for not pre-purchasing.
