Season’s greetings from all at GamesHub

GamesHub is powering down for a short break before returning, rebooting, and refreshing in 2022.
season's greetings

After another year of pandemic blues, we’re all turning the page on 2021 and hoping for a brighter 2022. The GamesHub team would like to thank you for being part of our year and hope you can enjoy a break over the coming weeks.

This year marked the birth of GamesHub, off the back of big technology changes over at our sibling sites ArtsHub and ScreenHub. It was a long project, but we believe it’s been a huge step forward for our team.

As our CEO Sol Wise said as we launched, ‘Our new website (and technology stack) will mean we can offer a better user experience to our community with a refreshed website and an easier way for us to provide the platform, tools, content, connections and marketplace to cultivate curiosity for our vibrant arts community and beyond.’

Although we’ve only been around for a few months, we’re immensely proud of the work we’ve done so far – including the WordPlay initiative held in collaboration with Melbourne International Games Week. As part of this project, we paired industry mentors with new and emerging games writers to build up the culture of Australian games criticism and establish new voices.

The results were articles that we don’t think you’ll see anywhere else, like this piece from Emily Spindler looking at games as a way of grieving and Jam Walker’s look at how tabletop games have boomed during this most anti-social of times.
