If you want to play League Classic early, here’s what you need to do

With the League Classic announcement, many players are curious to try the new mode, while others are longing to return to an older version of the game. Riot is not really defining what exactly League Classic is, either. It’s left as a mix and match of different flavours and eras from around 2009 to 2013 in design.

With a lot going on, there are plenty of reasons why many of you out there want to play League Classic and try the PBE out ahead of its official release on July 29th.

How to play League Classic early on the PBE

Here’s how to get started on League Classic and sign up for PBE, both now and for future content patches.

  1. Firstly, head over to the EN-US PBE sign-up. The PBE tends to run on one server location in the US. Hence the separate PBE account you’ll need to create to access it.
  2. Once it’s created, open the Riot Client and log in using your PBE account details. It should begin downloading the PBE client for you to test upcoming content patches.

You can find more information on the PBE FAQ through Riot if you have further questions. Please be aware that the PBE servers are located in North America, as it helps align with the Los Angeles developers working on League of Legends for shipping daily improvements to the PBE. So if you’re based outside of that region, you may encounter higher ping in matches.

It should let you play League Classic early and test things out before the feature goes live. There’s also skin testing, feature testing, and balance changes to explore on the PBE. That’s largely why you’re already seeing gameplay clips and screenshots appearing on Reddit and social media ahead of the official launch date.

It’s worth trying out and seeing what it’s all about. As it seems rather hyped, yet decisive in its approach at the same time.

If you have concerns, there’s a council for voting on future changes to LoL Classic. We also know the 60 Champions in League Classic, thanks to testing and announcements.
