Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ aquarium tour is set to hit Sea Life locations in Australia and New Zealand from April 2025, inviting keen players in to learn more about sea creatures, and the wider world of Animal Crossing.

As announced, this “live, interactive experience” is essentially an add-on to your aquarium visit. Various installations will teach more about the creatures that appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and guests will also be able to meet Isabelle and other Animal Crossing characters during their journey, as well as keeping an eye out for Gulliver, who appears as an easter egg.

“Guests will explore the varied marine habitats, meet Isabelle and other familiar characters from the game, and discover diverse sea creatures,” Nintendo announced. “Visitors will be able to collect character stamps, discover many interesting facts about the inhabitants of Sea Life, and search the aquarium for Gulliver, who washed up on the beaches of the island.”

At the end of the journey, there will be special Animal Crossing: New Horizons merchandise to purchase in the aquarium gift shops, for an extra little treat.

“We are thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to our Sea Life attractions across Australia and New Zealand,” Ian Wood, Vice President Merlin Entertainments ANZ said in a press release.

“In this exciting collaboration, guests will embark on an immersive journey alongside beloved Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters, all while being surrounded by thousands of incredible marine creatures – from majestic green sea turtles to striking grey nurse sharks. Whether with family or friends, this fun-filled adventure blends the magic of the underwater world with the charm of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

This appears to be the same tour that journeyed around the United States in 2024, so you can check out impressions of that tour for more information about what to expect. This event included various photo ops and standees, as well as meet-and-greets with Animal Crossing characters, and we expect the Australia-New Zealand leg of the tour will function quite similarly.

Essentially, it’s a cross-collaboration designed to encourage Animal Crossing fans to visit their local aquarium and learn more about the ecosystems depicted in the game. Aquariums are always fun, no matter your age, so it should be great for those looking for a different sort of weekend out.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons x Sea Life tour will begin at Sea Life Sydney on 1 April 2025, with the event running through 18 May 2025. On conclusion, it will head to Sea Life Melbourne, then Sea Life Sunshine Coast, and Sea Life Kelly Tarlton’s (Auckland).

These subsequent legs aren’t dated just yet, but they are noted as coming later this year, so stay tuned if you’re keen to pop in. Those who are able to visit in Sydney can book tickets to attend now.
