The Death of Apocalypse is a Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes investigation event running from July 10th to August 20th, 2026. It tasks players with solving three murder mysteries across the season, with each case unlocking a Gallery Card and the final investigation rewarding 100 Units. Here’s how to complete the Death of Apocalypse event in Marvel Rivals
Death of Apocalypse event guide in Marvel Rivals
Here’s a full breakdown of every reward on offer:
- Death of Wolverine — The Body in the Lazarus Chamber Gallery Card
- Death of Psylocke — The Butterfly Trap Gallery Card
- Death of Gambit — Cards on the Table Gallery Card
- Reveal the Truth (Final Investigation) — 100 Units
If you want to fully complete the Mystery of Thebes Card Gallery, you will need to reach level 6 on the Faith Harvesting Engine Battle Pass and get Card #’1 for 200 Chrono Tokens. The Death on the Nile card also unlocks at battle pass level 12, and also cost 200 Chrono Tokens. This will complete the full card gallery for the event.
Death of Wolverine

Head to the Events tab, select Death of Apocalypse and choose the Death of Wolverine mystery. Click every glowing sparkle on the crime scene image to collect your clues, then head to the Deductions page.

- Healing Factor
The Wolverine case teases that blood had been drained from Apocalypse, and that blood-related event is what sparked Wolverine’s Berserker Rage, leading to his death.
Death of Psylocke

With the first case completed, you can now work on the second event, the Death of Psylocke.

Psylocke was killed by Loki in this event, partly due to spiritual and undead energies relating between worlds. Another hint at the Apocalypse ascension needing otherworldly powers as the soon-to-be God prepared to rise again.
Death of Gambit

The third event opened up on July 16th, marking the final mystery in this event window, the Death of Gambit.
Persons of interest:

- Corpses

- Black Panther
The Gambit storyline references the powers of the Phoenix Force, used in places intended for resurrection. It shows that Apocalypse’s ascension was nearly complete, but Oblivion powers helped to stop it, with The Hood being the killer behind it.
Reveal the Truth — Final Investigation
With all three cases solved, the final investigation unlocks. To solve Reveal the Truth, you need to place the associated power of each case in their respective positions based on the Death of Apocalypse case locations. Place Blood on the left, Phoenix in the bottom right and Undead Energy in the top right.
Placing the icons correctly opens the sarcophagus of Apocalypse and rewards you with lore text. The text reveals a mysterious killer who hunts gods, stopping Apocalypse before his ascension, which technically means he never achieved godhood. The question the event leaves hanging is who is next on this mysterious god killer’s list. You’ll also get 100 Units at the bottom, which can be spent in the store on skins, unit conversions and other items.
In the comics, that answer is Gorr, the God Butcher, which could very well point to a hero coming later in Season 9 alongside The Hood, who has been heavily teased throughout the event via datamines, seasonal comics and his central role in the Death of Gambit case. It’s a rather interesting lore event. I do wonder what Season 9.5 will bring.
