Popular Game Pass addition, Xbox Retro Classics, powered by Antstream, is making over 100 new games available to users in the coming months.
Retro Classics has proven incredibly popular with Xbox gamers, triggering an initial 200% player surge for the arcade subscription after its May launch and reaching 1 million players in 27 days.
Which games feature on Retro Classics?
Retro Classics offers a library of classic Activision games from the 1980s and 1990s. Timeless games have been hosted as part of Xbox’s commitment to game preservation, allowing players to re-experience nostalgic gaming hits on new, updated platforms.
Currently, the majority of games available date back to the Atari 2600.
The Atari 2600 holds nostalgic memories for several generations, as it was released in 1977 and remained in production until 1992, 15 years later. Many will find their childhood favourites revived as Xbox and Antstream continue to add to Retro Classics.
Titles such as River Raid I and II, Title Match Pro Wrestling, Laser Blast, and Kaboom! are all already available to play, refreshed from their roots on the Atari 2600.
DOS (Disk-based Operating Systems) games are also now available on the Game Pass thanks to the Xbox-Antstream collaboration.
Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood and Space Quest 6 are two of several DOS games that have gained a second life through the platform.
Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat, the vehicle simulation game initially released in 1995, is also included in the Retro Classics list. The game was originally hosted on Windows, PlayStation, DOS, and Sega platforms.
When are the new games being added?
The Xbox Game Pass has already been updating the games available on Retro Classics. In late June, the following games were added:
- Cosmic Commuter
- Heart of China
- Skiing
- Solar Storm
- Subterranea
Xbox has yet to announce specific dates for additional game releases. However, in recent comments, Xbox has revealed that 120 games will be added across the remainder of 2025 and into 2026.
These new games will likely continue to centre around popular Activision releases from the pre-2000 era.

Where can you access Xbox Retro Classics?
