The latest Borderlands project now has an official release date and fans are finally getting an insight into how the game will run.
Borderlands 4 will release on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3rd later this year.
What do we know about Borderlands 4?
There was some big news about Borderlands 4 in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with game developers Gearbox sharing some important information about their latest project.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford discussed some of the key facts about the new game including what it is expected to run on when it is released for Switch users.
“It was important to us to not cut anything and to support cross play with other platforms.” Pitchford said. “So, no. It’ll be mostly around 30 fps, with some dips in some intense moments, heavy combat or if hosting a multiplayer game in handheld mode, etc.”
The honesty from Pitchford comes as a slight surprise, especially with the Gearbox boss admitting that there will be some ‘dips’ in quality during intense gameplay.
Those who have played Borderlands’ previous games will know that the series is mostly action-packed and that gamers may have to suffer from poor image quality throughout the experience.

When will Borderlands be available on other platforms?
Gearbox has already announced that Borderlands 4 will cost $70 on its initial release.
Regardless of the steep price, with the last Borderlands game coming out in 2019 there should be a lot of hype around the game that is expected to perform well across all platforms.
Pritchard also addressed the performance issues that Borderlands 3 has suffered from on the Switch 2 but with Gearbox fully focusing on their new game, the previous issues have taken a back seat for now.
While Borderlands 4 won’t come to the Nintendo Switch 2 until early October, the game will be available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC from September 12th.
Every version of the new Borderlands title will require a download even if users buy the hard copy physical edition.
