The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group will end service for Pokémon UNITE on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, on both Nintendo Switch and mobile, the official notice confirms.
“We regret to inform you that service for Pokémon UNITE will end on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC,” the announcement reads. The game’s official account shared the news on X, linking to details of upcoming updates and events.
Sales of Aeos gems, the game’s paid currency, stopped immediately on October 27, and new UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals are also suspended. Players can spend the gems they already hold until the end of service, and existing UNITE Club members keep their benefits until their current membership period ends. Once the shutdown hits at 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027 (11:00 AEDT), players will no longer be able to log in or take part in battles. The notice gives no reason for the closure.
What is left to play
A November 12, 2026 update will add a farewell event in which players earn special Unite Coins, redeemable for in-game items and cosmetics including Unite licenses and Holowear, according to the official event page. The same update introduces a Library feature: players who download the required library data before the servers close will be able to view their records and certain in-game content after shutdown. Practice mode is also reported to remain usable after shutdown, though battles will not.
The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament, the game’s final announced competitive event, will still go ahead, with qualifiers starting on December 5, 2026. Qualifier registration is open on the official Pokémon site. The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group said the tournament will be held “as previously announced” and offered their “sincerest gratitude” to the Trainers who have played since the game launched.
Nearly six years of service
Pokémon UNITE launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021 and reached iOS and Android on September 22, 2021. Its closure removes the only Pokémon MOBA and one of Nintendo’s few successful free-to-play live-service games. After service ends, the Pokémon UNITE Game Content Guidelines for Online Platforms will no longer be published or maintained, and support for the use of the game’s video and images ends.
