Best Real Money Casino Apps in the US

The best real money casino apps in the US are state-specific, so an app that accepts your wager in one state may lock its wagering lobby when you cross a state line. Before choosing an app, check which state market it serves and whether your phone’s location is within that market. The app can still open outside an approved state, but you cannot place wagers until its geolocation check confirms you are back inside the permitted area.

That is the lens this GamesHub guide uses. Instead of ranking apps on flashy features alone, we start with the question every player should ask first: is this app approved by the regulator in my state? Every casino app reviewed on this page appears on an official regulator list, and each review links to the register we used so you can check it yourself.

If you live outside those seven states, a state-licensed real money casino app is not available to you yet. The sections further down explain what is legal instead, from sweepstakes and social casino apps in states that allow them to land-based casinos and lotteries, and why offshore casino apps are not an option we recommend anywhere.

Real Money Casino Apps by State in 2026

Real money casino apps by state in 2026 depend on each state’s own rules and approved partnerships. The US has no federal casino app licence, so states that permit online casino gaming decide which land-based casinos, tribes or lotteries can partner with app operators. Availability therefore differs by state, and an app that is accessible in one market may not be available in another. As of our last check, these are the seven states with live online casino markets:

Nevada is a special case. Its regulators license online poker, but not online slots or casino table games, so a Nevada resident can play poker on a licensed app and nothing else. In every other state, online casino apps that take real money wagers are not licensed, and any app offering them to residents there is operating outside state law.

Some of these states also cap the number of brands. In New Jersey, every online casino must be tied to an Atlantic City casino licence holder, which is why the Division of Gaming Enforcement publishes its approved sites grouped by land-based partner. Pennsylvania’s Gaming Control Board publishes a simpler list of approved operator brands. Both registers are the quickest way to check an app before you download it.

Are Real Money Mobile Casino Apps Safe to Use?

Three checks are built into every licensed app. First, a geolocation service confirms you are physically inside the licensed state, using your phone’s location services and Wi-Fi data. Second, the app confirms you are at least 21. Third, the operator verifies your identity, usually with your name, date of birth, address and the last four digits of your Social Security number, and sometimes a photo of your ID. These steps are required by state rules, and they are also what makes your account protected by the regulator if a dispute arises.

Players often see the geolocation check as an annoyance, but it is the clearest sign that an app is regulated. An app that lets you wager real money anywhere in the country without a location check is not a state-licensed product.

Best Casino Apps Compared

Our casino app comparison draws on the official operator lists in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We selected a mix of larger and smaller brands rather than repeating the same familiar names, then checked each selection against the relevant regulator’s register. The comparison below helps you assess the apps on the information available from those sources. When a detail could not be confirmed through a regulator or an operator listing, we left it out rather than fill the gap with an assumption.

Stardust Casino

Stardust Casino
New Jersey and Pennsylvania
Screenshot of the Stardust Casino mobile lobby will be added after our in-state capture.

Stardust is a revived Las Vegas name run online by Boyd Gaming. The brand itself dates back to the Las Vegas Strip resort that opened in 1958, and today it exists only as an online casino in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. That makes it a good example of a smaller, focused app that does not try to be a sportsbook, a poker room and a casino at once.

The App Store listing describes a lobby built around well-known slot titles such as Cleopatra, Cash Eruption and Starburst, plus blackjack, roulette and live dealer tables. Its loyalty scheme is Boyd Rewards, which links online play to Boyd’s land-based properties, so points earned on the phone can be used at Boyd venues.

On the New Jersey register, Stardust appears among the sites approved under the Borgata licence, and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board lists it as an approved interactive gaming operator. That double approval is worth noting for anyone who lives in one state and works in the other.

Pros
  • Approved in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania
  • PayPal, Apple Pay, Venmo, Visa and Mastercard listed for deposits and withdrawals
  • Boyd Rewards points can be used at Boyd land-based properties
  • Casino-only app, so the lobby is not crowded with sports betting
Cons
  • Only two states, so no access in Michigan or West Virginia
  • Smaller brand with fewer exclusive games than the biggest operators

Hard Rock Bet Casino

Hard Rock Bet Casino
New Jersey
Screenshot of the Hard Rock Bet Casino mobile lobby will be added after our in-state capture.

Hard Rock Bet is the online brand of Seminole Hard Rock Digital, and its casino app is separate from the Hard Rock Bet sportsbook app. In New Jersey it runs under the licence of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, which appears on the Division of Gaming Enforcement list with hardrock.bet as its approved site.

The operator’s App Store listing says the New Jersey lobby holds more than 4,600 games, with slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, video poker and live dealer tables. That is a large catalogue for a single state, and the listing also mentions exclusive Hard Rock Bet titles.

Payments are one of the app’s practical strengths. The listing names debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo and bank transfers, all inside the app. The operator also offers its casino in Michigan; we were able to confirm the New Jersey approval on the regulator’s register, so that is the state we list as verified.

Pros
  • Large game library, listed at more than 4,600 titles in New Jersey
  • Separate casino app, so casino players get a dedicated lobby
  • Venmo, PayPal and Apple Pay listed alongside debit cards and bank transfers
  • Backed by the Hard Rock brand and its land-based Atlantic City property
Cons
  • Not available in Pennsylvania
  • Promotions vary by state and eligibility, so offers can differ from what you see advertised elsewhere

Bally Bet Casino

Bally Bet Casino
New Jersey and Pennsylvania
Screenshot of the Bally Bet Casino mobile lobby will be added after our in-state capture.

Bally Bet combines a casino and a sportsbook in one app run by Bally’s Interactive. For casino play it is approved in New Jersey under the Bally’s Atlantic City licence, where play.ballybet.com is listed by the Division of Gaming Enforcement, and it appears as Bally Bet on Pennsylvania’s list of interactive gaming operators.

The app listing describes slots, progressive jackpots and live dealer games including blackjack, roulette, poker and baccarat. It also states that the casino is available to players who are 21+ and present in New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Rhode Island.

Unusually, the listing spells out its casino welcome offer: if you lose your first deposit, the app refunds up to $500 in bonus money, for slots only, for new players in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It also mentions that players can register with a driver’s licence, and that limit and cool-off tools are built in.

Pros
  • Approved in New Jersey and Pennsylvania
  • Welcome offer terms are published openly in the app listing
  • Deposit limits, loss limits and cool-off tools listed in the app
  • Casino and sportsbook in one account
Cons
  • Combined app is heavier than a casino-only app
  • The welcome refund is paid as bonus money, not cash, and is slots only

BetRivers

BetRivers
New Jersey and Pennsylvania
Screenshot of the BetRivers mobile lobby will be added after our in-state capture.

BetRivers is run by Rush Street Interactive, the online arm connected to the Rivers casinos. In New Jersey, nj.betrivers.com is approved under the Golden Nugget Atlantic City licence, and in Pennsylvania BetRivers is on the Gaming Control Board’s list of approved interactive operators.

Its app combines casino and sportsbook in one account. The listing highlights slots such as Cash Eruption and 88 Fortunes, live dealer blackjack, baccarat, roulette and Crazy Time, and video poker. The iRush Rewards scheme turns real money play into points that can be swapped for prizes in its bonus store.

The listing claims that more than 75% of withdrawals are approved instantly. We could not check that figure independently, so treat it as the operator’s own claim rather than a tested result.

Pros
  • Approved in New Jersey and Pennsylvania
  • iRush Rewards points redeemable in a bonus store
  • Live dealer section including game shows
  • One account for casino and sports
Cons
  • Combined app is one of the larger downloads among these five
  • Payout speed figures come from the operator, not from an independent audit

Wind Creek Online

Wind Creek Online
Pennsylvania only
Screenshot of the Wind Creek Online mobile lobby will be added after our in-state capture.

Wind Creek Online is the Pennsylvania app of Wind Creek, the hospitality group of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, which owns the Wind Creek Bethlehem casino resort. It is the most local app in this group: it is available in Pennsylvania only and is listed by the Gaming Control Board as an approved interactive operator.

The current app was released in April 2026, replacing an older Wind Creek casino app. Its listing describes slots, progressive jackpots, blackjack, roulette, craps, baccarat and video poker, with live dealer tables available around the clock.

For Pennsylvania players who already visit Bethlehem, the appeal is a smaller app tied to a casino they know. The listing advertises a 100% first deposit match up to $500 for new players; the wagering and expiry rules for that match are set in the operator’s terms.

Pros
  • Approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
  • Newly rebuilt app released in 2026
  • Live dealer tables listed as available 24/7
  • Linked to a well-known Pennsylvania casino resort
Cons
  • Pennsylvania only
  • Smaller game catalogue than the national brands

None of these reviews is paid for by the operators, and the order above does not reflect a score. The comparison list at the top of the page is a separate feature. Before signing up, always open the app’s own terms and check the offer that applies in your state.

Casino Apps vs Mobile/Desktop Browser

Casino apps and mobile or desktop browsers can provide access to the same account, balance and game library. The main difference is how each version runs on your device, rather than a separate set of games or a separate balance. If you are comparing a casino app with its browser version, consider which interface is easier for you to use on your phone and whether you prefer installing software or opening the site in a browser. Here is how they compare:

What mattersNative casino appMobile browser site
SetupDownload from the App Store or Google Play, then sign inOpen the operator’s site and sign in, nothing to install
StorageUsually 80 MB to 220 MB on iOS for the apps reviewed hereOnly browser cache
GeolocationBuilt into the app, using phone location servicesOften needs a small location plugin or browser permission
Log inFace ID, Touch ID or fingerprint on most appsPassword manager or typed password
NotificationsPush alerts for promotions, which you can switch offNone, or email only
PerformanceSmoother animations and live dealer streams on most phonesDepends on the browser and device
AvailabilityOnly in states where the app is approvedSame states, same rules

If your phone is short on space or you play only now and then, the browser site is perfectly fine. If you play regularly, the app is faster to open, handles geolocation more smoothly and gives you biometric log in. Either way, the protections come from the state licence, not from the format.

did you know Why Licensed Casino Apps Come From Official App Stores

  • Apple's App Store rules require real money gaming apps to hold the necessary licences where they are used, to be geo-restricted to those places and to be free to download. Google Play also allows licensed real money gambling apps in the US through an application process. That means a state-licensed casino app is available through the official stores, and you should not need to install an Android APK file from a website. If a site asks you to sideload an APK to play real money casino games, treat it as a warning sign: state-licensed operators distribute through the official stores, and unlicensed apps installed this way are not covered by any US regulator.

How to Choose the Best Online Casino Apps

To choose among the best online casino apps, compare how each app fits your state, device and preferred way to play. Start with whether the app is available where you are, then look at its games, payment options and account features. You can also compare the app’s controls for setting limits and managing your play. The points below give you a practical basis for weighing those features without treating every app as the same product.

1 Licence First, Features Second

Before anything else, find the app’s brand on your state regulator’s list. In New Jersey the Division of Gaming Enforcement lists every approved site by its land-based partner, and in Pennsylvania the Gaming Control Board lists approved brands. If the app is not there, it is not licensed in your state, however polished it looks.

2 Game Variety on Mobile (Slots, Tables, Live Dealer)

Licensed apps range from a few hundred games to several thousand. Look for the mix you actually play: slots and jackpots, digital blackjack and roulette, and live dealer tables streamed from studios. Game libraries differ by state, so a title advertised in New Jersey may not be in the Pennsylvania lobby.

3 Banking Options Built Into the App

Regulated apps support methods such as debit cards, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, online banking transfers and prepaid Play+ cards, depending on the operator and state. All of them run through US-regulated payment providers, which is part of what keeps your funds traceable and protected.

4 Withdrawal Rules and Timing

Fast payouts on a licensed app come from approved e-wallets and online banking, not from cryptocurrency. Check how the operator handles withdrawals: whether it pays back to the same method you used to deposit, whether a first withdrawal triggers extra identity checks, and whether any fees apply. These rules are in the operator’s terms and cashier pages.

5 Responsible Gambling Tools

State regulators require licensed operators to offer limit and exclusion tools. Good apps make them easy to find: deposit limits, time limits, loss limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion, usually in the account or responsible gaming menu. If you cannot find them within a minute, that tells you something about the app.

6 Welcome Offer Terms, Not Headline Numbers

A large headline figure means little without the terms behind it. Read the wagering requirement, the expiry period, the minimum deposit and the games that count towards it. Licensed operators must publish these terms, and they often differ from state to state.

7 App Security, Biometrics, and Data Protection

Most licensed apps support Face ID, Touch ID or Android fingerprint log in, and many offer two-step verification. Combined with the identity checks required by state rules, this makes it much harder for someone else to use your account.

8 Instant-Play vs. Downloadable Apps

Licensed operators offer both a downloadable app and a mobile site that use the same account. The app is usually smoother and handles geolocation automatically; the browser version saves space. Pick whichever suits your phone and how often you play.

9 App Speed and Performance on iOS and Android

Check the minimum iOS or Android version in the store listing before you download. Older phones may not meet it, and live dealer streams need a steady connection. Reviews in the official stores are a useful extra check on stability after updates.

10 Customer Support and Dispute Routes

Licensed apps list their support channels, usually live chat and email, and the regulator explains how to file a complaint if the operator does not resolve a problem. That route to an official body is one of the main reasons to stay with licensed apps.

Types of Games Available at Mobile Casino Sites

Mobile casino sites offer game categories that can vary by operator and state. You may find slots, table games and live dealer titles, although the exact selection depends on what is available in that market. A game’s presence in one app does not mean it will appear in every app, so check the in-app lobby for the titles and formats you want. These are the main categories you are likely to encounter:

  • Video Slots: The largest category on every licensed app, from three-reel classics to modern video slots with free spins and bonus rounds. Portrait layouts and tap-to-spin controls make them the easiest games to play on a phone.
  • Progressive Jackpot Slots: Part of every bet feeds a jackpot that keeps growing until someone wins it. Some jackpots are linked across several operators in the same state, which is how they reach large totals.
  • Blackjack: Digital blackjack is available in several rule variations. Check the table rules, such as how many decks are used and whether the dealer hits on soft 17, because they change the house edge.
  • Roulette: Licensed apps commonly carry American and European versions, and some add French roulette. The single-zero European wheel has a lower house edge than the double-zero American wheel.
  • Baccarat: A simple game of betting on Player, Banker or Tie. Baccarat plays quickly on a phone, and many apps offer both digital and live dealer tables.
  • Craps: The full craps layout is condensed for small screens, with tap-to-place bets. It is less common than blackjack or roulette, so check the lobby if it is your game.
  • Casino Poker and Video Poker: Games such as Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em and video poker variants like Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild are played against the house, not other players.
  • Live Dealer Games: Real dealers stream blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows from licensed studios. Several states require the studios serving their players to be located in that state, which is why live lobbies vary.
  • Specialty Games: Keno, scratch-style instant games and similar titles are available on many apps for short sessions.
  • Peer-to-Peer Online Poker: Online poker against other players is licensed separately in some states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Delaware and Nevada, and runs in dedicated poker apps.

Payment Methods at Top-Rated Casino Apps

Payment methods at top-rated casino apps vary by operator and state, with US-regulated payment providers handling deposits and withdrawals. The cashier is the best place to check which options are available to you, since a method listed by one app may not appear in another market. Review the payment details before choosing how to fund your account, including any stated processing conditions. These methods appear most often in licensed app cashiers and store listings:

  • PayPal and Venmo: Listed by several of the apps reviewed above, including Stardust and Hard Rock Bet. They are popular because deposits are instant and withdrawals are often among the quickest options.
  • Apple Pay: Lets iPhone users fund their account with Face ID or Touch ID. Several licensed apps support it for deposits; check the cashier to see whether it is available for withdrawals.
  • Online banking and ACH transfers: A direct transfer from a US bank account, often through a secure bank-login service. It is a common choice for withdrawals.
  • Debit and credit cards: Visa and Mastercard debit cards are widely accepted. Some banks block card payments to gambling sites, in which case an e-wallet or bank transfer works better.
  • Play+ prepaid cards: An operator-branded prepaid card used by many licensed casinos, which can hold winnings and be used elsewhere.
  • Cash at the casino cage and PayNearMe: Some apps let you deposit cash at the partner casino or at retail stores using a PayNearMe barcode.

Cryptocurrency is not a payment method at any of the five state-licensed casino apps reviewed on this page, and none of their listings mentions it. State regulators require operators to know where player funds come from, and payments must run through approved channels. Apps that promote Bitcoin or other crypto deposits for real money casino games to US players are, in almost every case, offshore sites without a US licence.

Sweepstakes and Social Casino Apps

Outside the seven regulated states, you may see sweepstakes or social casino apps promoted alongside state-licensed apps. These products work differently. You buy virtual coins for entertainment play, while a separate promotional currency may be redeemable for prizes under the app’s sweepstakes rules. When you compare them with real-money casino apps, check which currency you purchase, how promotional entries are earned, and what redemption conditions apply. Sweepstakes models rely on sweepstakes rules rather than a gambling licence, so state gaming regulators do not supervise them in the same way as real-money casino apps. This distinction shapes the product and how you can redeem prizes.

A growing number of states have banned or restricted these products, including California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Montana, Indiana, Maine, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Where they are still permitted, they come with the operator’s own terms, eligibility rules and identity checks. If you use one, read the sweepstakes rules carefully, and remember that it does not carry the protections of a state licence. Our sweepstakes casinos section explains how they work in more detail.

Other products are also legal in some states. Daily fantasy sports apps are permitted or licensed in many states under their own rules, and prediction markets regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission are a separate federal category. Neither is a casino app, and each has its own state-by-state availability.

Offshore Casino Apps: Why We Do Not Recommend Them

Offshore casino apps operate outside US state licensing systems, so they are not supervised by a state gaming regulator. That leaves you without a state regulator to handle a complaint or confirm that games have been tested under state requirements. Their claims of nationwide availability do not make them part of state-approved markets, and cryptocurrency deposits do not change that distinction. The sections below focus on apps connected to approved state markets instead.

The simplest test is the one used throughout this guide. If an app is not on the regulator’s list in your state, it is not licensed there. In states without legal online casinos, the legal options are land-based casinos where they exist, the state lottery, and other products the state permits.

Responsible Gambling

Responsible gambling tools let you set boundaries while using a casino app. Licensed apps must offer features such as deposit, time and loss limits, along with cool-off periods and self-exclusion. You can review the available controls when you open your account and choose settings that match your preferences. The tools differ in how they work, so check the app’s terms for the details of each limit or account break before setting it.

Your phone can help too. Turn off push notifications from casino apps, use Screen Time on iOS or Digital Wellbeing on Android to cap daily use, and remove the app during a break. Each regulated state also runs a self-exclusion list that covers every licensed operator in the state; the regulators linked above explain how to join.

Casino Apps FAQ

Are real money casino apps legal in the US?

Yes, but only in seven states: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island. In those states, apps must be approved by the state regulator. Nevada licenses online poker only.

How can I tell if a casino app is licensed?

Look for the brand on your state regulator’s list of approved operators, such as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s list of internet gaming sites or the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s list of interactive gaming operators. Licensed apps also run a geolocation check before you can play.

Can I use a casino app while travelling to another state?

You can open the app, but real money play only works while you are physically inside a state where that app is approved. The geolocation check blocks wagering elsewhere.

What is the minimum age for casino apps?

You must be 21 or older to play on a licensed online casino app in every state where they are legal.

Do licensed casino apps accept cryptocurrency?

None of the five licensed apps reviewed on this page lists cryptocurrency as a payment method. They use regulated methods such as PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, online banking, debit cards and prepaid cards.

Should I download a casino APK file for Android?

No. Licensed US casino apps are distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store. An APK offered from a website is a sign the app is not a state-licensed product.

Where can I get help with problem gambling?

Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER at any time, or visit the National Council on Problem Gambling. Rhode Island players can call 1-877-9GAMBLE.

Our Verdict on US Casino Apps

The right US casino app for you depends on whether it is available in your state and how well its games, banking and app features fit your preferences. New Jersey and Pennsylvania offer a wide choice, including large multi-state brands and smaller apps such as Stardust and Wind Creek Online. You can compare the available products rather than assuming one app suits every user. Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island each have their own approved lists, which you can check through the regulators linked above.

Start with the register, read the welcome terms, set your limits on day one, and keep the help numbers on this page close. If you live outside the regulated states, skip the offshore apps and stick to the legal options your state allows.
