Redfall, the latest game from Arkane Studios (Deathloop, Prey, Dishonored) was shown at the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda showcase. Developed by Arkane Austin, Redfall adopts many of the studio’s strengths in creative combat, and applies it to a four-player cooperative game.

Set on an island called Redfall in Massachusetts, the trailer begins in an attic, with one of the game’s protagonists, Layla, battling a group of vampires with guns, before an ally comes to her assistance.

A quick montage explains how Redfall devolved into in a vampire’s paradise, and introduces the four playable protagonists and their abilities, including telekinesis (Layla), sharpshooting (Jacob), and robots (Remi).

You’ll have to reclaim a number of big locations in Redfall, which have been turned into vampire fortresses, as you attempt to survive the hordes. The trailer showed off a co-op infiltration of a fairground, with a 4-player group using stealth to infiltrate, and then a variety of powers to handle things when it all goes awry.

The squad then enters a kind of dimensional singularity, a ‘shared consciousness’ of sorts, which they must escape.

Redfall is coming to Xbox consoles and PC sometime in 2023.
