The adorable Lil Gator Game is getting a major new expansion adding in a cavern system to explore, alongside new quests and adventures. ‘In the Dark‘ will see the titular Lil Gator venturing below, into a new area that effectively doubles the size of the base game.
When the DLC launches, players will be able to find a mysterious cave entrance, with this leading to a labyrinth-like cave system “where glow sticks light your path and cozy tunnels host hidden nooks and crannies filled with cute critters, secret treasures, and places to relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere.”
As you explore the caves, you’ll come across new creatures to befriend, all of whom have special requests to fulfil. You’ll also take on a gang of teenagers in this location – who will no doubt serve to expand Lil Gator Game‘s themes of harnessing the whimsy and freedom of childhood while you can.
To help put away this dastardly group, you’ll learn brand new skills, like a double jump and cardboard-assisted slam. Items found along the way will also help to enhance your journey, as in the base game.

Lil Gator Game getting an expansion in the first place really is lovely news. It’s a wonderful, sad, and hopeful little adventure that really speaks to the imagination of childhood, and explores what growing old really means. It’s incredibly charming and playful in approach, and getting the chance to revisit it with new quests and locations to explore is fabulous.
On a related note, it’s also great to see MegaWobble getting to revisit its biggest success. It’s rare that titles like Lil Gator Game get the chance for sequels or major DLC – but the continued popularity of the game has allowed this delightful outcome.
For those who’ve yet to play Lil Gator Game, it’s certainly worth exploring, and In the Dark provides yet another reason to jump in. As announced, this DLC is currently in development, and doesn’t have a firm release date.
