Cyberpunk 2077 is set to receive a free, major 2.0 base game update alongside its Phantom Liberty DLC on 26 September 2023, with new features and upgrades available for everyone. The news was shared at Gamescom 2023, where CD Projekt Red revealed the game would be getting improved enemy and police AI, new vehicle combat options, dynamic events and missions, new perks and skills, new weapons and gear, and an increased level cap.
While some of these features will be exclusive to Phantom Liberty, many improvements will also be available to players who own the base game on modern-generation consoles and PC.
Early previews of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty suggested the expansion is also a major overhaul of the original game, with new features improving on the action in significant ways. Players jumping in can expect a refreshed gameplay experience, with a range of fixes and tweaks to expand on combat and exploration.

You can see some of these debuting features in the latest trailer for Phantom Liberty:
The new trailer provides a fresh look at the culture and denizens of Night City, and a brand new array of weaponry to experiment with – including a giant sword, and multiple futuristic guns. There’s also a shock hammer, which allows for ground-breaking smash attacks, what appears to be a chainsaw, a shock stick, and a variety of other options for attacking.
There’s also a new array of vehicles on offer, including snazzy sports cars and monster trucks. Some of these can seemingly be used to perform spinning death wheel attacks – which look very flashy on screen.
You’ll be able to see these new features and additions in action when Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty launches for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 26 September 2023. The major 2.0 base game update is expected to launch alongside this chapter.
