Aliens Firetteam Elite 2 is likely a cucessor to the original
The original Aliens: Fireteam Elite launched in 2021 as Cold Iron Studios’ first game release. The game was a co-op class-based shooter that took players through different levels fighting off Xenomorphs and their kind in various frnahcise themed labs, space stations, ships and other level environments. Players could choose from different classes, each with unique abilities and loadouts, to tackle increasingly difficult missions in squads of three, with their kit reflecting what mission type, map strategies and other gfeatures on the map.
The game captured the tense, claustrophobic atmosphere of the Alien films while delivering intense firefights against swarms of aliens. Despite mixed reviews at launch, the game built a dedicated fanbase and received post-launch support with new content and improvements. It was sort of like your Vermtinde, Helldivers type coop fun games where you progressed and level up, getting new kits, and taking on ever increasing challenges.
Full details on Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will be revealed during tomorrow’s IGN premiere. We are not sure what to expect, but you’ll probably catch a glimpse of gameplay improvements, coop teases, maybe some new classes or features, levels and more. I’ll be suprised if you see a release date, but who knows at the minute.
It comes after leaks from Disney revealed back in 2024 revealed that Fireteams Elite sequel was in the works. Now, we know atleast that bit was true.
Part of a growing Alien game revival
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s announcement comes amid a swathe of Alien games revealed recently. Most notably, Creative Assembly teased Alien Isolation 2 with a cryptic trailer showing a locked lab door opening to a jungle canopy with rain. The dev studios is actively hiring for the proijet, amidst its Warhammer 40,000 and Medieval 3 development.
The Alien franchise is experiencing a gaming renaissance, with multiple developers tackling different genres within the universe. The timing suggests renewed interest in the IP following recent film and TV releases, with publishers recognizing the enduring appeal of the Xenomorph-infested universe. It’s a good time to be an Aliens fan. Now where are the Predators?
