YEAH! YOU WANT ‘THOSE GAMES’ is a parody of terrible mobile ads

Monkeycraft is lampooning inaccurate mobile game ads with its latest release.

We’ve all seen them. Whether you’re browsing Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, it’s hard to avoid them: ads for mobile games that don’t really exist. For years now, obscure app publishers have relied on inaccurate advertising to pique the interest of viewers, showcasing compelling gameplay scenarios with seemingly simple, moreish puzzles that encourage downloads of completely different games – and sometimes, harmful spam. With its latest release, developer Monkeycraft is correcting the balance, by making those ‘fake’ mobile game ads real.

In YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM, a newly-released title for PC and Nintendo Switch, players are tasked with completing the puzzles so often advertised on these social media ads.

There’s the ‘pin pulling’ game where players must navigate a logic puzzle to free multiple people from a cage. There’s the endless runner where players must plus, divide, and multiply their stock of items to keep running forever. There’s the potion-making challenge where players must transfer colours to the right potions, in the right order.

Then, you’ve got the game where you direct traffic, and the one where you must grow more powerful to take on a tower of villains. “THOSE GAMES” are all here – finally in playable form. You can see them in action via the latest trailer for Monkeycraft’s newly-released, tongue-in-cheek game:

Wonderfully, this game isn’t your average parody, or the shovelware title you’d expect. Monkeycraft is a prominent developer with a strong pedigree in the world of gaming – it’s responsible for the recent remasters of Klonoa and Katamari Damacy.

While that may not change the nature of the ‘fake’ games made real, you can rest assured that Monkeycraft has eked out whatever quality can be found in these odd mini-games. Whether they’re actually as morish as they seem can now be definitively proven.

YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM is available for USD $10 on Nintendo Switch and PC. So far, early reviews for the game are trending Very Positive.
