Amazon Game Studios, Crystal Dynamics, and Flying Wild Hog have officially opened pre-orders for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a modern reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider.
The game is set to launch on 12 February 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a new gameplay trailer debuting during the latest State of Play broadcast. Back in April, we brought you news of a delay into 2027, and well, here is the conformation.
Rather than a simple remaster, Legacy of Atlantis is being positioned as a full-scale remake of Lara Croft’s first adventure, rebuilding the globe-trotting search for Atlantis with modern visuals, expanded story connections, reworked puzzles, and more cinematic action encounters.
Coincidence, Miss Croft? I think not
Of course, there is no such thing as a coincidence here. Amazon have teamed up with Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog (who were actually one of my favourite studios a few years back because I absolutely loved Shadow Warrior 3, so I have high hopes for this) to get this ready for around the same time as the new live-action Tomb Raider show on Amazon Prime featuring Sophie Turner as Lara.
From the trailer below, it seems they have all collectively resisted the effort to make our Lara look like Turner in this remake, which seems like a good life choice.
Players will once again follow Lara through Peru, Greece, Egypt, and a mysterious island tied to the myth of Atlantis, with the original game’s most memorable moments being reimagined for modern hardware. That includes the famous T-Rex encounter, now pitched as a larger, more dramatic gameplay sequence.
The remake will also expand the classic story, adding new connective tissue between Lara’s first major adventure and the events that shape her future. Exploration remains central to the experience, with ancient mechanisms, hidden secrets, environmental puzzles, and dangerous wildlife all returning in updated form.
Lara will also have access to her signature dual pistols, other unlockable weapons, and a more modern traversal toolkit, including climbing, leaping, swinging, and use of a grappling hook across redesigned environments.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis: which edition should you buy?
Pre-orders are now live for PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam, with three editions available.
The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99 USD and includes the full digital game, as well as the Survivor Outfit as a pre-order bonus.
The Deluxe Edition is priced at $69.99 USD and includes the full game, 48-hour early launch access as a pre-order bonus, the Parisian Fugitive Outfit, and a post-launch DLC story pack.
The Collector’s Edition is priced at $199.99 USD and includes everything in the Deluxe Edition, alongside a premium steel case, a Lara Croft vs. The T-Rex statue, a mini art book, a Croft Signet pin, and an Atlantean Talisman keychain.
While Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order details have not been outlined in the announcement, the game has been confirmed for launch day availability on the platform. According to the publishers, the Switch 2 version will be optimised for the hardware, with the same cinematic scale and fluid gameplay available in both docked and handheld play.
For long-time fans, Legacy of Atlantis is being pitched as a chance to revisit the adventure that began the Tomb Raider series with a fresh perspective. For newcomers, it offers a modern entry point into one of gaming’s most influential action-adventure games.
