First-time D&D player rolls for luck and finds Sirius Dice’s millionth treasure pack – Rogues everywhere plan to hunt him down

A first-time Dungeons & Dragons player has stumbled into a real-life loot drop after finding Sirius Dice’s one-of-a-kind Millionth D&D Treasure Pack.

The golden pack was discovered by 32-year-old Cayce Winship of Ashley, Ohio, during a visit to Hobby Central in Delaware, Ohio. According to Sirius Dice, Winship and a group of friends had spent five hours creating characters for a new Dungeons & Dragons campaign before deciding to buy one more Dungeons & Dragons Undermountain Treasure Pack: Waterdeep Collection blind bag before leaving the store.

That final purchase turned out to be the one Sirius Dice had been waiting for someone to open.

“I’ve never played Dungeons & Dragons before, but a friend of mine wanted to start a campaign,” Winship said. “We spent five hours creating our characters before deciding to purchase one more blind bag before leaving the store. As soon as we ripped open the bag, we all saw the gold tag and began freaking out. There were still some nerves that it wasn’t the bag, but sure enough, once we pulled it out, it was.”

The Millionth D&D Treasure Pack was created as a golden ticket-style promotion to mark Sirius Dice approaching one million D&D Treasure Packs sold. The special pack included one-of-a-kind items, including a bag, a coin, and a set of dice.

It is a neat bit of timing, too. For a first-time player to find the celebratory pack immediately after making their first character feels almost like it was scripted, and plenty of long-time players will be quietly fuming. Such is the luck of the universe though.

Sirius Dice will celebrate Winship and Hobby Central with an exclusive party at the store in June 2026. The event will include additional exclusive prizes for Winship, attendee gifts, pizza, and a community celebration.

“Treasure Packs has grown far beyond what we ever imagined, and that’s entirely because of the incredible community around Dungeons & Dragons, from Hasbro and our distribution partners, to the retailers taking a chance on our products, and the fans opening packs,” said Sirius Dice founder Lax Chandra.

“We wanted the Millionth Pack promotion to feel like a celebration. Not just the person who finds the pack, but the store, the local community, and the excitement that comes from sharing a big D&D moment together.”

For Winship, it is a fairly spectacular way to begin a D&D journey. Most new players leave their first session with a character sheet, some dice, and wondering if they will ever play again. Winship left with all the treasure and a story that already sounds like campaign lore.
