If you have one of those rare free weekends coming up, and it clashes with an overwhelming urge to play Diablo IV without spending a penny, then oh, boy, we have a few solid days lined up for you.
Blizzard is running one of its semi-regular free trials for its ARPG that recently saw its second expansion – Lord of Hatred – released. Yes, we wouldn’t imagine it’s a coincidence either.
The best bit about this particular free trial, though, is that you are able to play the new Paladin class through to Level 25. The Paladin was only added much further into the game’s cycle, so even if you have dabbled before, chances are you haven’t been able to be all self-righteous with your role play previously. Well, you can now.
Almost inexplicably, the free trial, which can be accessed from the Battle.net launcher, arrived with a mega bug that Blizzard had to quickly patch out. The OG post has been deleted, as you can see below, but you can read the aftermath in the comments.
The problem stemmed from reaching Level 25 as the Paladin (or indeed any other class, it seems) – kinda the point of the trial, which then locked your game and account in a crash loop.
Anyway, not to worry, Blizzard posted 12 hours ago that “we just rolled out a server hotfix which fixes this issue, you can get in the free trial now without crashing – thanks for your patience all”.
A nice speedy resolution wins the day.
When is the Diablo IV free trial?
The trial itself is up and running, but will end on May 12th – that’s just five days away from the time of writing. To be fair, though, that is still a fair chunk of time to put into it to finally see if you want to commit to getting out your wallet and being absorbed into it full-time.
