The graphic single-player game will follow main character, Aidan, on a gruesome journey to free his girlfriend from the clutches of the infamous Pinhead.

Nenad Tomic is the executive producer on Hellraiser: Revival and he provided some details on the game following its first official announcement.

“Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is a story-driven horror game that delves deep into the franchise’s rich mythos.” Tomic said. “You’ll play as Aidan, a man who must use the power of a mysterious puzzle box – the Genesis Configuration – to help his girlfriend Sunny’s escape from the otherworldly hellscape of the Labyrinth.

“We consider it a huge privilege to be able to bring the haunting, cinematic experience of Hellraiser – once exclusive to the big screen – to computer and console screens.”

Doug Bradley will be reprising his role from the original film series as Pinhead over 35 years after its initial release.

What did Clive Barker say about new Hellraiser game?

There is certainly no doubts over the quality of the Hellraiser: Revival story, with Clive Barker working closely on the project as an adviser.

“Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings,” said Barker. “The dedication that Saber and Boss Team Games have shown is nothing short of remarkable. They’ve immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence – the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque – and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold.

“I’m eager for both the curious and the damned to experience this new chapter in the Hellraiser mythos, where every moment balances on the brink of nightmare and revelation.”

With Clive Barker spearheading the story, Hellraiser: Revival is sure to fit in with the horror series’ universe that already exists.

The game is based on and inspired by Clive Barker’s earliest work with a similar theme to Hellraiser 1 and 2, which were released in 1987 and 1988 respectively.

It is key to note that while the game is loosely based on the earlier films, it stands alone as a separate story in the Hellraiser universe with no official links to any existing films.

When will Hellraiser: Revival be released?

Developers have already confirmed that Hellraiser: Revival will be available on Xbox and Playstation as well as PC once it is released.

Although the first official teaser trailer only dropped on Tuesday afternoon, Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games are reportedly ‘closer than you think’ to releasing the finished product.
