Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly need a 210GB download on PS5, according to the download-size tracking account PlayStation Game Size, which posted the figure on X on 27 October. Rockstar Games has not confirmed it.
PlayStation Game Size tracks PlayStation’s database listings for download sizes and release dates. Its figures are not official. The account also listed a US$79.99 standard edition price and a midnight release time, neither of which Rockstar has announced.
Corroborated, not confirmed
Insider Gaming reported on 27 October that it had independently corroborated the 210GB figure, and Dexerto published the same number the same day. Rockstar itself has issued no file size at all, and it is unclear whether the Xbox Series X|S version will need the same amount of storage.
If the figure holds, Grand Theft Auto VI would land as one of the biggest games on PS5. Against the original PS5’s 667GB of usable storage, 210GB is nearly a third of the drive, which could mean uninstalling several games to make room.
What Rockstar has confirmed
The pre-load date and release window are not in dispute. Rockstar has confirmed that pre-loading begins on 12 November, a week before the game launches on 19 November. The studio has also confirmed that the boxed edition contains a download code rather than a disc, so retail buyers face the same download as everyone else.
Rockstar has been saying the new map is twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V’s, a scale that is at least consistent with a heavyweight install.
