DeNA has detailed a fresh slate of changes for Pokémon TCG Pocket as the game enters its third year, but collectors hoping for universal pack points will have to keep waiting. The roadmap covers new sets, missions and social features, while points remain tied to the pack type that earned them.
TheGamer reports that the changes will arrive over the coming weeks and months. Pocket launched on October 30, 2024, and its latest plans address several parts of the game without including two frequently requested features: universal pack points and dark mode.
New sets, missions and Community Decks are on the way
The biggest change to the release rhythm is a shift from a new expansion each month to one every six weeks. That gives each set a longer window before the next arrives, while mission-based rewards will offer another route to immersive cards.
A First Partners set is also planned, with a special currency required to obtain its cards. For deckbuilders, Community Decks will let players browse popular decks among their friends and use them as a starting point for their own builds.
The roadmap also includes one-star promo cards, rental decks that arrive alongside new booster packs, and battle events with restrictions on which cards can be used. Trading and sharing are set for improvements too: players will be able to check which cards their friends need, rather than relying only on limited wishlists.
That focus on collecting has a familiar counterpart in the physical Pokémon card scene, where promotions can also send collectors hunting for particular cards. Australian players have already seen that enthusiasm around Pokémon cards at McDonald’s.
Pack points stay locked to their packs
Pack points build up as players open boosters and can be exchanged for cards, making them useful when a collection is missing a specific pull. The catch is that points are separated by pack: points earned from Team Rocket’s Ambition cannot be spent on a card from Ruler of the Skies.
TheGamer says players have been asking for universal points for months, so their absence leaves a notable gap in a roadmap otherwise packed with collecting and trading changes. Dark mode, another long-running request mentioned in its report, was not included either.
Rollout dates remain broad
DeNA’s announcement describes updates arriving across the coming weeks and months, rather than giving a date for every feature. One timing detail is clearer: new rental decks are planned to launch when new booster packs are released.
For now, players can expect the new series to bring a broader mix of collecting, battling and trading options-but not a shared pool of pack points. The individual feature dates have yet to be specified.
