Battle of Malta Online pays out more than $35 million as CoinPoker sets new player record

CoinPoker’s Battle of Malta Online has wrapped up after paying out more than $35 million across 764 tournaments, with the online poker platform also claiming a new concurrent player record during the 23-day series.

Running from July 12 to August 3, Battle of Malta Online was originally advertised with $30 million in guaranteed prize pools. According to CoinPoker, the eventual total reached $35,120,885, comfortably clearing the guarantee by more than $5.1 million.

Across the entire festival, 528,237 tournament entries were recorded, excluding satellites, while more than 8.1 million hands of poker were dealt.

The biggest individual tournament was the $565 Battle of Malta Main Event, which attracted 4,778 entries and generated a $2,546,674 prize pool.

Player Hemingway eventually took the title and $250,000 first prize, while also finishing the festival as its biggest overall winner with $304,061.90 in combined cashes.

Battle of Malta Online racks up some ridiculous numbers

Beyond the headline prize pool, the 23-day tournament series produced some fairly wild statistics.

One player, B4baY4ga, managed to play 436 tournaments during the festival, while satellitesuper recorded 1,633 individual event entries — an average approaching 58 per day.

The largest field came in the $11 Main Crusader, which attracted 11,663 entries and was eventually won by Syn for $10,000.

Hemingway’s Main Event success delivered the biggest single payout of the series, while players futti18 and Discipline01 finished tied for the most tournament victories with four apiece.

Perhaps the best satellite story came from QuirinHeinz69, who won a seat in a $5,200 High Roller before going on to win the tournament itself for $96,547.50.

CoinPoker also says Battle of Malta Online pushed the platform beyond 25,000 concurrent players for the first time during the final weekend, setting a new all-time record.

Three Battle of Malta Main Event champions crowned

There were actually three Main Event winners across the final day of the series.

Hemingway defeated the 4,778-entry field in the $565 headline Main Event for $250,000, while MarianexBJ won the $55 Main Challenger and its $50,000 first prize.

Syn completed the trio by taking down the $11 Main Crusader for $10,000.

Each champion received a Battle of Malta trophy, with CoinPoker offering winners both physical trophies and permanent digital versions displayed through its Trophy Cabinet system.

The opening weekend’s $1 million guaranteed CoinMillion Battle of Malta Edition was meanwhile won by monc, who collected $121,500.

High Roller events pay out six-figure prizes

The higher end of the schedule produced several substantial payouts of its own.

Giselle54 won the $5,200 High Roller for $68,244 ahead of runner-up Lukabrate, who collected $45,612.

The $1,500 CoinMasters Bitcoin High Roller was won by pensefortement for $235,000, with the winner also receiving a gold-plated CoinMasters Bitcoin coin.

MystereEtBouleDeGomme claimed another sizeable victory in The Iron Throne, earning $129,129.

In total, Battle of Malta Online awarded 77 trophies across its Main Events, High Rollers and other selected tournaments.

100 players earn their way to Malta

The online festival also awarded 100 packages for the Battle of Malta Autumn Edition, which takes place in Malta from October 27 to November 4.

Each package is valued at $2,500 and includes a €600 Main Event ticket, accommodation and a travel allowance.

Twenty-five packages were distributed through the three online Main Events, with another 75 coming via CoinPoker’s multi-stage Battle of Malta Champion’s Trials promotion.

CoinPoker’s next $50 million tournament series starts August 23

CoinPoker isn’t leaving much of a gap before its next major event.

The Global Online Poker Championship begins on August 23 with a total guaranteed tournament schedule worth $50 million.

The series will be split into schedules aimed at players in Asia, Europe and Latin America, with tournaments organised around regional primetime hours.

Events will also run across three main buy-in levels, ranging from $2.20 all the way up to $25,500 across Medal Events, Main Events, High Rollers and satellites.

CoinMillion will return as part of the championship on September 6, carrying a $215 buy-in and another $1 million guaranteed prize pool.

After Battle of Malta Online exceeded its guarantee by more than $5 million, CoinPoker now has an even larger series lined up before the end of August.
