Despite the glowing praise for Subnautica 2 getting a pre-order and pre-load for an early access game, it seems to have come with some fairly major issues. It seems like Subnautica 2 has leaked, with pirates now getting their hands on it.
It seems Subnautica 2 has leaked already
The rumors started with some on the Steam community and Reddit saying it had been cracked. However, there was no source. After doing some digging across decrypting sites and forums, it seems there are a few mirrors alive that let players download Subnautica 2 via pirated means. The site in question is the same one that hosts the Forza Horizon 6 crack.
We are not letting you know that easily who it is.
For the record, we have not downloaded and verified it is real, so we cannot attest to the mirrors being the actual game or not. If you do go scooping around to pirate the game, know it comes with risks of viruses, crypto miners, or whatever other random dodgy stuff exists on the internet these days.
That site is also likely going to get dealt with by Xbox and Microsoft, considering Forza announced it is looking into permanent bans and hardware bans for those pirating Forza and is investigating the leak. The hint from their end is that it apparently did not come from Steam’s pre-load encryption issues.
So chances are these copies are either repacked, decrypted, or deliberately leaked early copies of games. While Subnautica 2 is in early access, devs can still offer pre-release keys for early access titles to get previews and guides up early. That could be how it got out.
The news comes after this week has seen quite a few games leak early. Forza Horizon 6 and Directive: 8020 both got cracked before release. There were also some issues with Lego Batman, though that was more a case of a pre-load on Xbox letting players in without any pushback.
If you’re a good egg, we strongly recommend waiting for the preload times, and pre order it yourself. We’ve got a lowdown on what to expect with Subnautica 2’s early access release on Thursday waiting to go.
