Crimson Desert confirms DLC is in development as Pearl Abyss reveals June to September roadmap

Pearl Abyss has confirmed that DLC is in development for Crimson Desert, though no details have been shared yet. The announcement came alongside a broader June to September content roadmap, with the developer noting that the upcoming expansion is being prepared as “a meaningful addition to the player’s journey.”

Crimson Desert DLC confirmed, but details are thin

Pearl Abyss stated in the recent roadmap update that there is going to be DLC for Crimson Desert. However, they said nothing else on the matter. No title, no content details, no release window.

What is interesting is that it is being confirmed at all at this stage, which suggests it is far enough along that the team is comfortable acknowledging its existence publicly.

Given that the studio has been vocal about listening to player feedback since launch, it is reasonable to speculate on where the DLC could go based on what the community has been asking for. Especially considering fan opinion massively spiked when devs started patching concerns and complaints

The most prominent fan requests have centred around expanding the story beyond Kliff’s main arc, particularly around Oongka and Damiane, whose storylines were felt to be underdeveloped compared to the main campaign.

A DLC focused on one or both of those characters would address one of the most consistent criticisms the game has received. There have also been community threads pushing for expanded exploration of Pywel’s lore and regions that felt underutilised in the base game, which would be a natural fit for paid story content.

But again, that’s just speculation, based on how Pearl Abyss has been handling post launch support. We’ll have to wait and see what it in the potentially not do distant future.

What the June to September roadmap covers

The three-month roadmap is once again shaped by the most common criticisms levelled at Crimson Desert since launch. It comes after a previous three month round of updates that improved UI, inventory, and other character issues in the game.

Many players have complained that the story telling is not great, and that is being addressed directly. The team is going back into key scenes to improve narrative flow and make Kliff’s journey feel more cohesive, which was a notable weak point in reviews that praised the combat while finding the storytelling disjointed.

Damiane and Oongka are both getting gameplay improvements, with Pearl Abyss explicitly stating the goal is to ensure all three playable characters share the spotlight rather than Kliff feeling like the dominant option in most situations. It comes after Kiliff was the only viable option, thanks to his skills and exploration skills, by far the best. Having them all on-par should make playing whichever character much more viable in alternative playthroughs.

New combat content is also coming, framed around proving your strength as a Greymane. It sounds like there’’s going to be more combat additions to the game to give players more boss battles, areas to fight in, and other features like that.

There’s other features too coming like the Re-Blockade and Cross save support too on the way. If you’re curious, you can catch the official blog post on it.
