PlayStation State of Play returns tonight, headlined by Marvel’s Wolverine, here’s how to watch

Sony’s PlayStation State of Play is back tonight, June 2, 2026, and it is shaping up to be one of the bigger showcases in recent memory.

It kicks off the Summer Games Fest week, marking the first of the big showcases in the former E3 week, and you’ll be getting some big news for your favourite video games. This week will feature some updates to beloved IPs, alongside Wolverine being the big feature game of the event.

How to watch State of Play on June 2, 2026

What to expect at State of Play tonight

Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games is confirmed to lead the presentation, with combat and gameplay details expected to feature heavily. Insomniac confirmed in March that pre-orders would not open until they showed more of the game, and tonight appears to be that moment, given it’s the marquee of the event.

We already know Wolverine is targeting a September 15th release date, so the showcase will help to start building excitement ahead of launch.

Beyond Wolverine, Sony has not officially confirmed any other titles but described the broadcast as featuring updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world, leaving the door wide open for surprises. This comes per the official State of Play website, which is only hinting at other things beyond Wolverine.

Tonight lands right at the start of the summer showcase season, with Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase both following in the coming days. Sony is clearly getting in early to claim the floor before the calendar fills up.

Given that context, expect Sony to use tonight to make noise ahead of the competition rather than hold anything significant back. Past State of Play broadcasts during summer showcase week have delivered surprise announcements and world premieres alongside expected updates, and a 60-plus minute runtime gives plenty of room for both.

It comes after the last one broke viewership records. I do wonder if that will happen again, given the anticipation for the Wolverine game.
