Where Winds Meet patch 1.8 adds Homestead system and dynamic pets

Everstone Studio has announced that Where Winds Meet version 1.8, titled Companions Make Home, launches on June 25th.

The update is major for adding pets to the game, alongside huge revamps to the Homestead system. The patch also comes with plenty of limited-time events, providing some bonuses, rewards, and reasons to return.

Players can build and restore their own Homestead in Where Winds Meet

The headline addition is the Homestead system, which sends you back to Qinghe to rebuild Blissful Retreat. If you recall, it is the village that was burned down as part of the first major boss storyline earlier on in your adventure.

The feature update is a full estate management system, letting you recruit villagers as workers. You can also construct and run buildings, including inns, porcelain kilns, and farms, alongside brewing wine and trading to restore the village to its former glory.

Participating in Homestead activities earns exclusive currency for the Homestead Shop, with free rewards on offer, including the Summer’s Blush outfit. A social feature called Beyond Artistry is also in the pipeline, arriving in July, which will let you design, showcase and share your customized residences with others.

You can now get cats and geese as pets

The pet system arrives with version 1.8, introducing cats and geese as interactive companions. These pets exhibit dynamic behaviors that react to weather changes and world events. Three cats, Maverick, Scar and Pudding, arrive on day one, with Goldie the goose following in week two.

You can dress pets up, use specialized emotes, and interact with them directly, with bonding progress unlocking companion outfits and the exclusive Cute Master player cosmetic. A dedicated pet battle system is also confirmed for a future update.

Version 1.8 Events

As previously touched on, there are several Limited Events coming too.

The Martial Path Domain launches on June 25, a 20-floor challenge for five-player teams at level 60 and above, with Hero Titles on offer for top rankers. Tomb Raiders also kicks off on June 25, a PvPvE mode where event points can be exchanged for a rare purple mount and other high-value items. A dangerous name, to be honest.

From July 3rd, Phantom Thief Goose lets you take on the role of Goose Bo to infiltrate Heaven’s Pier using goose-themed abilities. Expect a lot of honking, pecking, and stealth attacks.

The Jianghu Martial Games Second Edition follows on July 10th, featuring three mini-games with the limited-time Dangling Carrot outfit as the headline reward.

Those are about the main features coming with the patch. It will be interesting to see what players do with the Homestead, alongside their own custom building they might build along the way too, to really make it feel like Blissful is back to its best.
