The GTA 6 saga is still going strong, but it appears we are entering the latter stages of what was seemingly a never-ending uphill battle, with Sony directly emailing PS4 owners to upgrade to a PS5 sharpish before the launch date.
While this is an obvious push to sell more consoles so people can play the most anticipated game of all time (that have conveniently had a price hike recently), it’s also good news for those who have November 19 circled on their calendar.
The GTA 6 release date appears to be holding firm, pre-orders imminent
In the email, seemingly sent to those who have GTA 6 on their wishlist and haven’t made the jump to PS5, it specifically states that the game will actually release on November 19, 2026, with no further slippage.
This is music to the ears of the industry as a whole since we’ll be able to start playing what Rockstar has been cooking up for so long, paired with developers knowing what date to dodge for their launches.
What this email could also mean is that the all-important pre-order button may be made live soon.
This would make complete sense since we’re around six months out from the GTA 6 release date, with a supposed ‘Trailer 3’ just around the corner. Fans have been speculating when this will be, even via planetary alignment, and most have concluded that it will be released before May is out.
If pre-orders do go live later this month, we’ll also finally get an idea of what the game will be priced at. There’s been so much speculation on what Rockstar will do in this regard. Does it set a new $100 bar for what is essentially a AAAA game, or go slightly above the new $70 norm to keep it ‘affordable’?
Regardless of what happens with the price strategy, it’s going to sell millions upon millions. And, to echo Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19, that’s for sure.
