Upper Deck and Neopets have confirmed the upcoming Neopets Battledome Trading Card Game (TCG) will launch in the US and Canada on 26 June 2024, with new sets planned to release later in the year. This card game adapts the browser-based Battledome mini-game on the Neopets website, with players taking part in “fast-paced” battles while using buffs like Paint Brushes and Codestones to improve their odds for winning.

“Using a deck of Neopets, Faeries, Paint Brushes, Legends, Equipment, Codestones and more, two players will go head-to-head in a best-of-three-round battle to become the champion of the Battledome,” Upper Deck announced.

As is tradition, the Neopets Battledome TCG will launch with starter decks so players can hop in immediately, and there will also be collectible boosters providing new items, characters, weapons, and more.

So far, we’ve seen glimpses at some of the cards players will crack in these packs, including a glimpse at a neat-looking Naia the Fountain Faerie card, which allows players to grab a Paint Brush from their deck, as well as a Grundo Warehouse card that features a redeemable code (this one is a very nice throwback, particularly for those who ever purchased a Neopets plush toy in the early 2000s).

“Millennials thrive on nostalgia, and there’s no better way to revisit your youth than with the iconic Neopets brand,” Jason Masherah, president of Upper Deck said of the upcoming card game.

“Our new Neopets Battledome Trading Card Game bridges generations, offering adults a throwback to their favourite childhood characters and younger collectors and gamers an introduction to the exciting magic that Neopia brings.”

As is clear, the game aims to lean heavily into nostalgia, recapturing the imaginations of adults who spent their childhood playing Neopets online. As one of those adults, the new card game certainly tickles my fancy, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for new developments as they arise.

Where can you buy the Neopets Battledome TCG?

For now, Upper Deck has only confirmed plans for the release of the Neopets Battledome TCG in the United States and Canada. There is hope the game will launch in other regions, should it prove popular, so stay tuned for more news as it heads to release.
