Infinity Ward has confirmed it is working on the next Call of Duty game, and it is going to be a Modern Warfare title. The news comes from a recent episode of the CoD Pod, posted on the Call of Duty YouTube channel right at the end of the video.
In terms of confirmed details, all we know is that it is a Modern Warfare title. The team then posted on social media, showcasing its state of mind on how development is going at the moment.

The post speaks to a new vision built around passion, precision, obsession, and drive, with a focus on making the best entertainment through combat experiences that are visceral and immersive. It is a lot of waffle, but they at least seem passionate about what they are making.
It also wants to be the ultimate Modern Warfare experience, too. Does that mean Infinity Ward wants to make it the most Modern Warfare possible? Classic prestiging, iconic maps, noticeably distinct weapons, martyrdom, juggernaut ninja, cold-blooded? We shall see what it means.
The next CoD game looks like Modern Warfare 4
As it stands, we do not really know what type of Modern Warfare game this is going to be. The story has some natural progression going on in its storyline, with Captain Price ending the last game with a notable move. We also lost Soap, the best boy, after the events that unfolded in London.
So there is certainly room to make the next CoD hit hard in terms of fan favorite characters becoming operators, alongside actually telling a decent story.
The video also dropped a few clues that eagle-eyed players spotted. One clip shows a blurred gameplay segment with what looks to be Tac-Sprint back in the game. That is notable since the last Black Ops titles were all about Omnimovement, so fans of that faster yet more grounded gameplay style might appreciate that. Tac-Sprint did exist as a perk previously, but we are not sure if it will be a baseline mechanic in the next game.

We are also fairly certain this is MW4, thanks to another blurred image visible on a TV in the background of the screen.
Chances are, we will see proper news on the next CoD game during Summer Game Fest or an Xbox showcase coming up soon. That is when Black Ops 7 got announced last year, as have other titles in the past. Hopefully, we’ll see some of the leaks and rumours are true, like Modern Warfare getting zombies, for example. Oh, and we know for sure it won’t come to PS4 or older console generations.
If you are curious, the devs went into detail on the next CoD game, their new vision, and other features in this 14 minute CoD Pod that is worth checking out.
