Frostpunk 2 has finally locked in a launch date.

11 bit studios has officially announced the launch date for Frostpunk 2 during the Xbox Partner Showcase, locking in 25 July 2024 for its PC standalone and PC Game Pass arrival.

Like its predecessor, Frostpunk 2 will invite players on a post-apocalyptic odyssey as they attempt to create cities of human survivors with enough food, shelter, and warmth to last through harsh environmental conditions.

The original Frostpunk achieved critical acclaim for its unique management mechanics, and its unfolding, many-layered plots charting the end of the world. While the game’s legacy is a lot to live up to, Frostpunk 2 looks well-positioned to succeed this grim tale.

As described, the game builds on the blocks of the original, with “new deadly threats” shaking the foundations of your blizzard-ravaged society. There will be new factions within the walls of your city, new ideologies, and plenty of obstacles, all of which must be withstood and overcome for long-term survival.

Those keen to jump into Frostpunk 2 are now able to preorder the game on digital platforms, with preorders of the Digital Deluxe Edition coming with access to the game’s seven-day sandbox beta, set to be held in April 2024. This edition also includes three paid post-release DLCs, access to story mode 72 hours before the game’s official release, a digital novella titled, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack.

For everyone else, including those planning to check out the game via PC Game Pass, there will a slightly longer wait to access the main game.

As 11 bit studios notes, there will also be a Frostpunk 2 release for those on consoles in future – but you’ll have to stay patient for more news and updates.
