Getting stuck into any Beta ahead of the real deal is pretty exciting, allowing you to really get accustomed to the mechanics before getting stuck into the full experience.
This is especially true when it comes to Call of Duty since tweaks to both guns and movement can make a huge difference, and with Modern Warfare 4, this is no different.
If you’re grinding the MW4 Beta and are hoping that any progress carries over between the pre-launch experiences or the full game, we’ve got what you need to know.
If you’re a hardcore CoD fan and are playing across both the Early Access and Open Betas that are on offer for MW4 this year, the short answer is yes, your progress will be saved for the two weekends.
This means if you were grinding levels, weapon attachments, etc. in Early Access, everything will be ready for you when the Open Beta rolls around, which is a nice little leg up, and may incentivise you to stomp on those that are only just starting out.
However, all the effort you put into any of the Betas will not transfer over to the full game when it releases in your region. You’ll be pushed back to level 1, all weapons that were locked before will be unavailable, and unfortunately, any inroads you will have made to camos will be lost.
This shouldn’t be hugely surprising since that’s how it has gone with these Call of Duty Betas since forever, but is still a slight kick in the teeth if you have planned to sink some serious hours in.
The only thing that will technically ‘transfer’ are any rewards you secured when playing the Betas. These are all cosmetic-based, though, so that makes sense, since you won’t be getting any sort of gameplay advantages over those who didn’t manage to play pre-launch. Still, a nice silver lining for those of you who do put the effort in.
