What’s free on Epic Games Store this week?

The Epic Games Store has revealed its latest batch of free games, and this week’s giveaway is a nice varied double bill featuring a cosy life sim and a strategic sci-fi roguelike. The yin and yang for your free gaming weekend.

Available to claim now until June 4, you can add both Calico and LONESTAR to their Epic Games library at no cost. Once claimed, the games are yours to keep permanently.

Calico is perhaps the more immediately charming of the pair. Developed by Peachy Keen Games, it’s a laid-back community simulation where players rebuild a local cat café while befriending animals and decorating their business. The game leans heavily into cosy gaming vibes, complete with colourful visuals, magical characters, and plenty of cats to pet.

if you are after something with a little more challenge, LONESTAR heads in the opposite direction. The game is a roguelike spaceship deckbuilder that casts players as bounty hunters tracking dangerous criminals across the galaxy. Between runs, you’ll upgrade ships, collect new equipment, and experiment with different strategies as you take on increasingly difficult encounters.

The pair have been well received on Steam, with Calico earning an 88% positive rating from players, while LONESTAR sits even higher with a “Very Positive” rating and roughly 90% positive reviews. Together, the games would normally cost around $25 USD.

Epic’s long-running weekly giveaway programme remains one of the biggest attractions of the storefront, with new free games arriving every Thursday. The company has yet to reveal what will replace this week’s offerings once the promotion ends on June 4.

For now, though, it’s a good week for players who enjoy either relaxing management sims or tactical roguelikes, and even better if you happen to like both.
