Blizzard has revealed the next major WoW Midnight patch, with the Curse of Ula’tek bringing a new outdoor zone, an eight-boss raid, a new dungeon and the start of Midnight Season 2.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Rotation
Let’s start with what you’re more than likely farming. That’s M+ dungeons.
Season 2 brings a new dungeon pool of eight dungeons. The new and current-expansion additions are Altar of Fangs, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale and Voidscar Arena, joined by three returning favourites in King’s Rest, Ruby Life Pools and Temple of Sethraliss. King’s Rest and Sethraliss make a return from BFA, while Ruby Life Pools emerge from Dragonflight. Good luck to you snake lightning runners in Sethralis.
New Outdoor Zone: The Coiled Isle
The headline addition is The Coiled Isle, a new outdoor zone located off the east coast of Zul’Aman. The update continues the story of Zul’jan, with players joining Zul’jarra as she pursues her brother to bring him and others home to Zul’Aman, while uncovering the buried history of the isle itself.
What makes the Coiled Isle stand out is its custom talent tree, giving players access to zone-specific perks as they explore. These range from player power bonuses to quality of life upgrades, including options to reduce the potency of the venom that’s scattered throughout the zone’s poisonous ecosystem. It’s a more systems-heavy outdoor zone than a simple open world area, with public events that build up to boss fights, Curse Surges spawning rare elites at five rotating locations, and Cursed Fishing unlocking at each location once the rare elite there has been killed. Kinda reminds me if they merged Argus with a more community driven GW2 event map, like they’ve been doing since late Dragonflight.
In addition, the island comes with a new dungeon, named The Altar of Fangs. It is a new three-boss dungeon launching with the content update, available up to Heroic difficulty at launch before joining the Mythic+ rotation when Midnight Season 2 begins one week later.
Of course, there’s a new mainline raid, The Venomous Abyss. It’s your standard eight boss long raid, with it serving as the payoff for the Zul’jan storyline running through the Coiled Isle. We also know the last boss is the ancient and deeply unpleasant Ula’tek herself.
