Next patch won’t be the last for Mortal Kombat 1

Despite being released in 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 is still performing well with fans all over the world still playing the game.

Those fans don’t need to worry about the future of the beloved game as developers plan to keep updating the project going forward from 2025.

Mortal Kombat recently teased a new update that would be coming to the game after this year’s EVO 25 tournament, with many thinking that it could be the game’s last.

The teaser post on X told gamers to ‘stay tuned’ and continued to ask for any feedback on the game.

Mortal Kombat’s co-creator Ed Boon was quick to stop any rumours about the game dying out after EVO 25, as he took to X to add to the excitement surrounding the next update.

Ed Boon confirms next Mortal Kombat update won’t be the last

The last update for Mortal Kombat came in May this year and fans were left disappointed when NetherRealm announced that they would be halting any major developments within the game.

Following that announcement, it is unknown as to what developers will change in the fighting game’s next update but rumours suggest it will mostly be a balancing patch.

The next EVO 25 takes place in Las Vegas between 1-3 of August so stay tuned to all of Mortal Kombat’s socials for more information about the update closer to then.

Mortal Kombat 2 film update

The Mortal Kombat 1 update coincides with the game’s second film release, which is expected to hit cinemas in October.

Karl Urban stars in the film and fans got a first look at ‘The Boys’ actor as Johnny Cage in the official Mortal Kombat 2 trailer that dropped earlier this week.

The Mortal Kombat 1 game update in August could be a brilliant marketing ploy from the series’ creators as they look to keep the game relevant ahead of the highly anticipated second movie.
