Leading American sportsbook operator Circa Sports has opened a new betting site at the Mint Gaming Hall at Kentucky Downs – the home of the famous ‘Run For The Roses’ Derby.
Circa Sports Cuts The Tape On Largest Kentucky Sportsbook
Circa Sports already has a solid online sportsbook presence in Kentucky, but have now taken that occupancy land-based by getting under starter’s orders with a new betting site at the famous racetrack in the state.
The latest offering by Circa Sports at Kentucky Downs racecourse has a 5,100 square-foot presence at their Mint Gaming Hall.
This Kentucky sports betting site will showcase both fully-staffed and 24-hour self-service betting kiosks that have huge 80-foot LED screens, 31-foot odds display boards, up to 113 stadium-style seats as well as luxury recliners and booths – for those looking for a more relaxed gambling approach.
The Circa Sports Kentucky sportsbooks also has an in-house VSiN (Vegas Stats & Information Network) studio that will broadcast ‘VSin By The Books’ live on the site.
Circa Sports Kentucky Will Attract Tennessee and Nashville Players
It’s been reported that the sportsbook is also still in its ‘soft-launch’ phase – so there is even more to come. With the full offering expected to be unleashed at the end of August.
While before this new sportsbook offering at Kentucky Downs, Circa Sports tested the water with a temporary bricks-and-mortar placement – again at The Mint in 2024.
The other bonus for the new Circa Sports offering in Kentucky is that it is situated near both Nashville and Tennessee – so will attract players from both areas.
It’s only a 15-minute walk to the border of Tennessee and a slightly longer 45-minute drive to the Nashville boundary.
In Tennessee they have online betting but no legal land-based gambling facilities – which is a further plus for the new Circa Sports sportsbook in Kentucky.
Circa Sports CEO Derek Stevens said “Together with The Mint, we’re creating a high-tech betting destination that will bring a new level of live-viewing excitement for customers across both states.”
“We’re proud to officially open the doors to this new sports betting experience for fans across the region,” Stevens added this week. “Whether you’re placing a bet or simply watching the action unfold, this book is built to be a premier gameday spot for Kentucky, Nashville and beyond.”

Kentucky Circa’s Fifth State Of Operation
Circa Sport’s latest release in Kentucky is also their fifth state of operation – having a presence already in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois and Nevada.
There are also plans for more by the end of 2025 – with Missouri reported to be next on the Circa wish-list – having confirmed they’ve applied for a license in the state.
The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) recently said “Circa has applied for one of two untethered licenses in the state, which will allow sportsbooks to offer sports betting without a partnership with an in-state retail casino or pro sports team. Circa is a big underdog in a battle with industry giants FanDuel and DraftKings for one of the pair of direct licenses.”
An untethered license has its advantages – as they don’t require a partnership or related sharing revenue deal.
However, the downside is these are double the price – $500k as opposed to $250k.
