New Roblox Learning Hub Turns Screen Time Into Study Time

Roblox, the game that holds the record for the most players online at once, is capitalizing on its popularity by launching a new Learning Hub for students.

Roblox is most popular amongst kids. This, we already knew. But the game was never much more than fun. Now, it’s attempting to teach children via “dozens of educational experiences,” according to a blog post from the company.

Roblox Appeals to Parents

The Learning Hub is available now, featuring games like “Words of Power” for teaching kids about vocabulary and sentence structure, or “Math Tower Race” which rewards players who answer math equations as fast as they can.

Rebecca Kantar, the Head of Education at Roblox, states:

“Roblox’s recently launched Learning Hub makes it easy for users to discover dozens of educational experiences and games from top educational providers and developers. From the hub, users can access experiences featuring a range of topics, including computer science, arts, math, life skills, and brain games.”

Roblox’s Learning Hub is its own section within the user interface, and breaks games into categories like Science, Computer Science, Art and Creativity, and more. The studio calls it a “curated collection of educational experiences” that’s suitable for everyone.

The studio is surely appealing to parents with this launch, positioning it as kids in North America are out of school for summer. Not only will these games allow kids to keep up their education outside of school, but the Learning Hub makes it much harder for parents to complain about their kids playing a game while it’s nice out!

Big-Time Partnerships Inbound

Not only will Roblox include user-generated content in its Learning Hub, but it will also partner with big-name kids brands for future content.

To start, there’s already a Sesame Street-themed game for kids to practice their STEM skills. However, the studio is also planning a geography-themed experience in partnership with BBC.

The game’s Learning Hub is the latest in a series of attempts to expand the Roblox brand. The studio is already working to bring its most popular games to television, after all.

It is also working to keep kids as safe as possible to retain such a massive playerbase. In late 2024, the corporation announced it would be bringing new safety measures to protect children under the age of 13.
