Ghost of Yotei is door fans uitgeroepen tot Beste PS5-game en verslaat daarmee Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Dit gebeurde tijdens de PlayStation Blog Awards, waar spelers zelf konden stemmen op hun favoriete games.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 heeft tot nu toe bijna alle grote prijzen binnengehaald. In november won de RPG de Ultimate Game of the Year bij de Gouden Joystick Awards, en op 18 december werd het ook nog eens Game of the Year bij de Indie Game Awards. Toch moest het bij de PlayStation Blog Awards zijn meerdere erkennen in Ghost of Yotei.
En hoewel Clair Obscur op 11 december nog een recordaantal van negen prijzen bij The Game Awards won, werden die vandaag met terugwerkende kracht weer afgepakt. Studio Sandfall Interactive had namelijk gezegd dat het spel geen AI-gegenereerde content bevatte, terwijl dat achteraf wel zo bleek te zijn.
Volgens Sony zijn er dit jaar bijna 1,5 miljoen stemmen uitgebracht in 19 categorieën. Alleen de stemmen van spelers telden mee, en die bepaalden volledig welke games in de prijzen vielen.
Het succes van Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Yotei eindigde bovenaan bij Beste PS5-game. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 werd tweede, gevolgd door Death Stranding 2 en Arc Raiders. Dat Clair Obscur geen Game of the Year won is opvallend gezien het succes bij andere prijzen, maar Ghost of Yotei wordt dan ook door de meeste fans én critici gezien als een ijzersterke game.
In november werd al bekend dat Ghost of Yotei sinds de release op 2 oktober zo’n 3,3 miljoen keer is verkocht. Daarmee ligt de open world-samuraigame lekker op schema om de 5 miljoen verkopen van Ghost of Tsushima in vier maanden te evenaren.
Ghost of Yotei won eerder ook al Console Game of the Year bij de Gouden Joystick Awards en kreeg veel nominaties bij The Game Awards, onder andere voor Beste Action/Adventure, Beste Verhaal en Beste Regie.

Bij de PlayStation Blog Awards was Ghost of Yotei de grote winnaar met zeven prijzen in totaal. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 eindigde als tweede met drie prijzen. Dit zijn alle categorieën en winnaars van 2025:
