The hype around the upcoming Astro Bot game release is getting even bigger, with PlayStation announcing overnight that there will be a Limited Edition Astro Bot DualSense controller available for purchase.
Per a blog post from Team Asobi Studio Head Nicolas Doucet, “The controller’s design features Astro’s signature blue accents on the handles and buttons, carved-in, sci-fi lines as well as the trademark playful pair of eyes on the touch pad. It is a true work of art, and we could not be happier with the end-result at Team Asobi.”
The controller is incredibly cute, and the vivid blue and white palette is particularly striking, but the highlight is definitely the visual representation of our favourite little guy’s eyes.
While the initial announcement didn’t confirm that there would be an Australian release – instead, focusing on the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal – PlayStation Australia has since confirmed that there will be a local release too.
In a tweet from the official account, PlayStation Australia chimed in around 10am AEST to say, “Yes, the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Controller is coming to Australia on 6th September. Pre-order from 9th August.”

Haptics and happiness in Astro Bot
Having previewed the game and spoken to Doucet earlier this year, we’re excited to see the interplay between the gameplay and haptics with this new controller. In our preview, I wrote:
“The best part of Astro’s previous games – including Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Astro’s Playroom – is how incredibly reactive they are to player input. From the haptic feedback, to the way that globs of paint swirl around organically as Astro barrels through – even blades of grass feel like their own entity.”
Eager fans can get their hands on the Limited Edition Astro Bot DualSense Controller by early September.
