About Orbx Orbx is the leading developer of scenery for flight simulation.  Since 2006 Orbx has published over 350 products which upgrade the flight experience within flight simulators., Our team of over 40 staff develop our products from all over the world and two offices, Australia and the UK.

Purpose of the role Planning, creating scenery content products for various flight simulation platforms

Key responsibilities

  • Flexible working options. Work from anywhere for the right person
  • Research and selection of 3D assets for a given product
  • Track and report on asset production activities
  • Coordination with internal and contract 3D artists for asset delivery
  • Quality assessment of delivered assets, including format conversions as needed
  • Placement of delivered assets within the simulator platform(s) and integration with the terrain (exclusions, terraforming, etc.), and other assets
  • Preparing product for Beta testing and release, meeting production deadlines

Key skills

  • Knowledge of current flight simulation platforms: MSFS, Prepar3D, X-Plane
  • Knowledge of model and texture formats used and the tools for their creation and conversion including -3ds Max, Maya, Blender -Substance Painter, Photoshop -ModelConverterX (MCX)
  • Ability to conceptualize and adopt the “vision” for a new product and follow it through
  • Strong spatial awareness, to guide level research and development
  • Eye for accuracy, detail, and quality
  • Familiarity with tools for product planning and tracking
